"You could use a buddy
Don't you want a pal?" -say my name from Beetlejuice

I stared up, disbelieving, at the Crimson pentagram hanging overhead.

My own death rang clearly in my mind.

"Hugo Blackwood, you have been found guilty of murder, treason, and conspiring against the royal family." King Fairwood's voice rings in my mind, on repeat.

I looked down at myself; talons replacing hands, hooves replacing feet, beak replacing nose and mouth, feathers replacing hair. Of course I couldn't also just ignore the fact that my ears are now more horse like, or I now have a soft horse like tail.

"What can I possibly be, if not Human?" I inquire to myself, flexing talents experimentally.
"A sinner." a smooth voice answers me from behind.

I turn around, instinctually flexing my sharp talons; ready to find out what they can really do.

The unseen danger laughed, amused.

"Is that any way to greet a new friend?" They laughed good naturedly.

"My deepest apologies." I stammered. "who might this, 'new friend' be?" I inquired, ears swiveling attempting to capture the slightest hint of movement.
The air rippled in front of me, a humanoid reptilian figure coming into view.

Turquoise scales, standing out against the scarlet backdrop. Red eyes, white dots for pupil staring into mine. He was adorn in an obsidian colored tunic.
"Where are my manners?" he chuckled, jagged teeth catching the light. "I an Dolus, the trickster."
"if you are a trickster, then how shall I take your word as truth." I inquired, trying to find cracks in his façade. "I might be new to this realm of Crimson. however, I wasn't born yesterday."

Dolus chuckled; hands with long thin fingers; tapering off to wicked sharp claws; clapping together.
"You're a clever one! Aren't you." he said, more as a statement then an inquiry. "Well, clever one, what is the name I can refer to you as?" Dolus inquired, folding his hands behind his back.

"Hu-..." I was cut off by Dolus hissing loudly.

"You misunderstand me my good man!" Dolus exclaims. "This is the place of new beginnings! What do you want to be called?" He inquires.
I think for a moment; I don't want to be known as, "Hugo Blackwood," any longer. After a couple of heartbeats of pondering, I look the trickster in the eye.

"I am Jupiter." I say with confidence, tail swishing.
"Well then Jupiter!" he begins, before throwing his arms out to either side of him for dramatic effect. "Welcome to hell!!!"
