A rare treasure (Kurapika x kuroro)

Chapter 14

The pills only helped to numb his thoughts, he didn't feel better after taking them but also didn't make him feel any worse , he just felt numb. He didn't have those thoughts anymore but he also didn't think of anything else anymore just the routine he had put up the last few months.

Leorio had called him to see how he was doing, and though Kurapika expressed he no longer had thoughts of self harm, his voice sounded so dull and empty when talking it seemed to worry Leorio further. His worried friend decided to visit him.

It was a pleasant surprise or what was meant to be but Kurapika only looked at him blankly. Leorio looked as if he was about to cry and hugged his friend tightly.

He ended up staying for a few weeks and decided to take him off the pills and warned him not to take them anymore as they did not work well with the heat inducing pills, as taking them could lead to unexpected side affects.

The two talked for hours more so Kurapika and Leorio listened intently. His inability to make up his mind on his relationship his crippling loneliness and anxiety his past trauma his mind refuses him to talk about. And the survivors guilt he felt deep down after his parents deaths.

Leorio stayed and comforted him letting him cry until he fell asleep.

Leorio didn't know what to say to him as a beta he didn't know how to comfort him or give advice but he did know the pain of losing someone dear to him. So he tells him "the pain of loss is forever ingrained in us but that doesn't mean we have to let that loss define us forever" he wants Kurapika to accept that loss that he was to young to change what happened. He tells Kurapika that perhaps he should take a break from work maybe join Gon on one of his crazy adventures or maybe come with him for just the company.

Kurapika dwells on his decision decision for a few days before reluctantly agreeing to stay with Leorio.

They travel to Leorio's apartment it's rather cozy with lots of pictures of their friends a bit messy with medical text books and papers scattered around but it was rather nice it looked lived in. He lets Kurapika stay on the guest room it was bit plain compared to the rest of the apartment but he felt a bit at ease when he sat on the plush bed.

He'd been a few months since he decided to stay with Leorio he took a bread from working. He would help cook meals and clean around the two often talked for hours it was rather peaceful, something he rarely had being with Chrollo. Sure he missed their sight seeing fancy restaurants and intense sex but it was also filled with fights often caused by something trivial. They rarely agreed and often tried to prove the other wrong, it also didn't help their possessive behavior towards each other, Kurapika often feeding into his own delusions whenever he was left alone to long often accusing the other of cheating. Chrollo himself often brought up his past flings or his jealousy towards Leorio. He didn't like kurapika's pack if he could even call it one, something he said often leading towards another fight.

The more Kurapika thought about his relationship the more he realized how toxic it was  but also dangerously addictive he knew it wasn't healthy for rather of them as much as Chrollo had his problems his where equally as bad.

Kurapika lied awake at night he was thinking of his future plans, he didn't plan on staying here forever and leaching off Leorio , no matter how much the other insisted he was welcome to satay as long as possible.

He did something research and decided to take up a job in a island it was long term he knew Chrollo was keeping tabs on him through the hunter website he suspected that much that day he found him in that hotel room. But he needed to face his problems head on.

He left the following week saying his goodbyes to Leorio promising to call and visit when he can.

When he arrived he was greeted by his new employer and was settled into the free housing provided by them. He met his new colleagues it was like a breath of fresh air pretty soon settling into his new routine the island was pretty secluded only certain people having access to go in and out. He called Leorio everyday at the end of his shift they talked for over an hour keeping tabs on each other Kurapika said he'll be able to visit in a month or two maybe the four of them (now five with alluka) could get together sometime.

Though at times he would worry about Chrollo finding him again, what will he say to him? But he knew it was time to break it off though he knew it wasn't that simple Chrollo was stubborn and when he wanted something he'd do everything in his power to get it including getting his spiders involved something Kurapika wanted to avoid he didn't like others to meddle in his personal affairs.

It was only a matter of time and all he had to do was wait and hope things wouldn't do too far.

In a dark room say Chrollo he looked at the hunter website with a smirk, he'd long ago tracked his angels location but he needed a plan Kurapika was crafty he knew he couldn't keep him by his side for long maybe a few weeks at most if he did things carefully. It took him a while to locate the proper tools for his plan, thankfully his angel was staying put. Though he was a bit displeased with the location it would be difficult to get in without causing too much trouble and attracting too much attention.
But he had a plan.
