-Chapter 22-

**2 MONTH TIME SKIP**

Aru POV

2 months. Its been 2 months since I last saw him, since I fainted with no apparent reason and since I felt so weak.

It was enough to get my game on, to focus way more on self-defense, offense and I even got my own gun. A gun. A pistol. Mom bought a pistol, shotgun and rifle. I learnt to handle the shotgun and pistol. The rifle-not so much.

But the worst part? 2 months since I heard from him, since any incident at all. It was like nothing happened and I was hanging by a thread. I don't know what to feel. For all I know, my dad is dead.

I got way closer to Aiden and Brynne. Even Rudy. We are practically family now. I even took Rudy up on his offer to drive me to my sister. Kara. And today was the day when I actually meet her. Talk to her. Like as in a person and not a creep stalking her on random Tuesday nights. Not that it was limited to Tuesday.

It was 3 PM. 2 more hours before we knock on her door. Hopefully, Kara's guardian knows me. Dad made it sound as though she does. 

Pushing these thoughts aside, I started reading. A fantasy book which Mom suggested to keep my mind off things. Its really helpful so far and I love it. You will never guess the book. LOTR! Who knew it was a book? I put on my airpods and my playlist. 'Dynasty' started playing by Miia. Good one.

In about 10 minutes, my door burst open. Aiden, Rudy and Mini barged in, with Mini screaming. Rudy and Aiden were in shock. I pulled out my airpod.

"Quick! Write down the date and time!" Mini screeched. 

"Jeez woman. Stop screeching like a vulture. Wait-what happened? Is something wrong? Are the twins ok? Brynne?"

"What? Yes, they are fine. No, no-are you ok?" Aiden asked

Skeptically, I raised my eyebrow.

"Yes? What happened?" I ask, again. Aiden was talking pictures of my book, his watch with the time and date, me with the book. Then he asked to take a pic with my book, his watch and me. God, now my head hurts.

"What. Happened?" I asked again for the third time and looking at all three of them from my bed.

"You are asking us? YOU ARE READING A BOOK! A BOOK! ARUNDHATI SHAH IS READING. A BOOK. WITHOUT BEING FORCED. SHE IS READING AT HER OWN WILL." Mini screamed again.

Ok, well. This was an utter waste of time.

"Get out." I said and popped my airpod back in my ear and continued reading.

"Ya, well, Rudy and I have a date so bye!" Mini said but it came out like 'Ja, bel, Roo band I labe a bake go die!' thanks to the airpod. I figured out what she meant though cause she would never tell me to 'go die'. And years of practice of figuring out also helps.

Rudy and Mini left but Aiden decided against leaving and plopped down the bed next to me and went back to the first page.

I groaned and turned to him and pulled out an airpod.

"Noooooooo. Pleaseeeeeeeeee. I must read what happens next." I plead

He simply takes the airpod from my hand and puts it in his ear and grins his stupid, adorable grin. Cute and mesmerizing grin. That vile, little thing.

"Pleaseeeeeeeeee? I wanna read too. Especially what got the Aru Shah to read."

"That's not that big a surprise" I counter

He gave me a 'look'. One that can be roughly said as 'Seriously?' or 'Are you messing with me?'

"Yes, not a big surprise. Remind me again who threw a hissy fit on reading Julius Caesar for the English presentation? Or the alternate option to chose any book, absolutely any novel for a detailed report? Oh and-"
