Summer was great, at least in its beginning. Cedric and Cielo spent many days by the creek, enjoying the serenity the water brought. Cedric was interning under his father, something the man had been insisting on for a few years. When they would meet at the creek, Cedric would rant on and on about how boring his father's job was, and how he'd rather do anything but work with magical creatures.
Luna was as sunny as ever. She painted wonderful pictures in her room, pictures of meadows, lakes, flowers, and birds. Cielo always envied her for her artistic talents, something he sorely lacked. When they were together, they would play games and run outside, something they had done since they were small children. Except now, they'd spend an hour a day doing homework, the two of them pouring over their textbooks to construct essays. Cielo was learning a new language as well, Mermish, and he was startled at how easy it came to him. He truly was Barty Crouch's grandson it would seem.
It was mid July, and Xenophilious had informed them of a camping trip that they would be taking the first week of August.
"I can't believe we're going to Ireland to camp," Luna twirled around their home in excitement, "aren't you happy Cielo?"
"I'm happy whenever I spend time with you two," Cielo answered as he reached to get the eggs to make an omelette, "do you want an omelette Luna?"
"No thank you," Luna smiled at her godbrother, "I'm going to have pancakes for breakfast."
"I'll go make the batter then," Cielo returned her smile, "you go finish your painting. If I recall correctly, the mountains needed a second coat of paint that you've forgotten about."
"My painting!" Luna hurried up the stairs, "thanks for reminding me Cielo."
"No problem!" Cielo shouted back, before muttering to himself, "always so scatterbrained." He quickly occupied himself with making the batter as his omelette was being fried.
"Doesn't that remind me of a certain someone?" Alice questioned her husband teasingly, "I seem to recall a person very close to me who requires a remembrall for anything."
"Zip it Ally," Frank blushed deeply at being called out by his wife, "it's not that bead."
"Says the one who nearly forgot the rings at his wedding," Kingsley shot back, viciously smirking at his friend, "you made me run around your manor looking for the darned things."
"Mean," Frank huffed, his blond eyebrows scrunching in annoyance, "it seems no one is on my side."
"That's right," the two teasers answered in sync. Frank could only groan at that. He hated when his wife and partner ganged up on him.
"Auror department," a loud knock was heard on the door minutes later, "please open up for the Auror department." Cielo quickly removed the omelette off the fire, and headed to the door.
"Which politician did Uncle Xeno upset this time?" Cielo sighed as he let the aurors in. Kingsley Shacklebolt was the head of the delegation.
"It's not about Xeno this time Kid," Kingsley had an unnervingly stoic face, "is he home? It'd be best to have this conversation with your guardian."
"He said he was going to Pembrokeshire Coast," Cielo answered easily, already used to auror visits, "he left instructions not to wait for him by lunch, so I can only assume he'll be back around dinner time."
"We don't have time to wait, Kingsley," the auror behind Kingsley, a tall, burly man, complained, "let's just take the kid and leave a note for his guardian."
"What the hell happened to the auror department?" Moody thundered, "we would never, ever have a single auror suggest such an illegal and immoral idea."
"You better not do that," Alice warns Kingsley, eyes flaring up with righteous fury, "I will hex you so bad if you do."
