Inspired by: Kiss me from Sixpence none the richer
Easy company was in the Netherlands; the soldiers were surrounded by happy people; they were laughing, dancing, and waving American flags; some kisses were distributed; and everybody seemed to be happy. The soldiers from Easy would stay in the town for some days before they would get new orders, so they could rest some days.
Nixons POV:
I was strolling along the street when I saw that our medic, Y/N, stood in a little shop looking at a wonderful dark blue dress. I decided to speak to her, so I went into the shop as well. "It would suit you.", I said, pointing to the dress and imagining how she would look in it. She looked up in surprise and smiled when she caught my eye. „You think so?" I nodded. "But why do you need a dress when we are sent out again in a few days?" She looked a bit confused and then began to laugh. „They didnt told you did they?" „Told me what?" I looked at her even confusder. „There will be a celebration this night. Thats why I need a dress, because we should dress formely." I noticed that she looked me up and down quickly and smiled then. „I would advise you to go shopping too, your shoes does not look very good for dancing." I looked at my shoes; she was right, they looked ugly and inappropriate for a dance night. After that, she took the dress and left me alone.
*Dance night*
Nixon's POV:
I was glad that I found some good shoes before the night had started. Now I was walking down the street in formal clothes, searching for the bar where the celebration should be. I easily found it, because some other soldier stood in front of the pub yelling something, it was obvious that they were drunk. I went into the pub and over to the bar. After I got my beer, I turned around and watched the other people in the room. Suddenly, I heard a wonderful voice speaking to me, and I turned around to see Y/N. „You got new shoes." She said in her lovely voice and smiled at me. „Uh yeah, I luckly found some." I said, looking down at my shoes and then back to her with a shy expression on my face. Usually, I'm not shy when I'm with women, but there was something different when I was with Y/N.
„You look adorable in this dress by the way." „Thank you, you look great too." And there it was again—this smile I would die for. I would do anything just to see her smile. „Do you... maybe.. wanna dance?" I asked the woman in front of me and offered her my hand. A few moments later, we approached the dance floor.
*Later that night*
Me and Y/N danced very long and also drunk a lot. It was already very late, and when she told me she wanted to go back to her accommodation, I insisted on bringing her home. The two of us left the pub arm in arm and walked swaying back to our lodgings. After a while of walking, we approached her room, and she turned to me in the door frame. I looked down at her and thought briefly if I should kiss her; she would probably not remember because of her drunkenness, but I decided not to do it. I just complimented her again on her dress and told her how good she looked in it. „Thank you. I enjoyed dancing with you tonight and maybe we can repeat it when we are back in the States. And then you will wear those shoes and I will wear that dress again." „Promise?" „Promise."
I smiled at her and whished her a good night. Suddenly she leaned in and kissed me on the cheek, I immeadiatley felt my face turned red and my breath became faster. „Have a good night too." Those were her last words before she closed the door and left me alone. My hand wandered up to the spot she just had kissed. I probably stood there for ten minutes before I could finally move to my own room.
This was the best night I've ever had. I thought to myself before sleeping.
