Recap...

"It's already finalized, Sal" My father roared. His voice echoing through the halls, like thunder in a storm. And as I heard the next words leave his mouth, I felt my heart drop.

"That human will marry Rhal"

I could feel my breath escape me as my mind ran miles. I was practically seething at the seams. My vision turning red as my body burned. Without even thinking, I began to stomp my way towards the entrance of the throne room. Only to be stopped by a hand on my wrist.

"I know you're mad your highness- b-but this isn't a good idea!" I could hear Rhys quietly try to persuade me. "You're not thinking straight- this will only end up hurting her more!"

I scoffed at his words. Hurt her? Aren't I saving her?-

My thoughts were short lived as I suddenly hear the clinks of armor getting louder behind us. "Hey! Who are-" I turn around, unamused.

My eyes land on the pair of knights with Leif and Pierce behind them. One hand on their each knights' mouth and other on the blade driven through them. "Your highness we need to leave, now " Rhys demanded through shut teeth.

I knew he was right. But my heart began to ache. We d didn't even find her room yet, but I knew we didn't have the luxury of time anymore. It'll only be a matter of minutes until they find the bodies. And when they do, they'll know immediately- they'll know we've been here. I ball my fists tightly. My eyes shutting close as I grind my teeth together, running back through the hallways we had just came from moments prior.

After all that work, we didn't get her out.. I could feel tears fly off my face as I ran. My heart was aching, telling me to go back and grab her. But before I could even process anything, we were already sliding past the palace gates. I could feel all the oxygen escaping me. And the next thing I knew, everything faded black.

"Stop shoving me! I already did what I could- he just needs rest"

"Asch must've been really angry-"

"I mean can you blame him? I'm fuming as well"

"An arranged marriage with an already married man?-"

"How are we going to get her out now?"

As I slowly regained consciousness, I could hear the others discussing the incident at the palace. Pretending to be asleep, I could hear how frustrated they were.

"Do you even think it's possible to get her out now?" I could hear Leif ask. His voice sounded panicked.

"Frankly, I don't even know how the king is planning on announcing both a divorce and marriage for Rhal within the same month" Rhys sighed.

My hands quickly balled into fists under the blanket. That's right. Ava is going to get married to Rhal. My mind began to race again as I tried to think back and process of everything that had happened.

"Not to mention, she's a Daemos now apparently" Noi chirped in. That's right..

"Is that even possible?" Pierce asked.

I began to ball my fist even tighter- feeling my nails dig into my skin. Unable to stay still for any longer, I sit up. My head immediately welcoming a splitting headache.

"Y-Your highness! How long have you-"

"It was you, wasn't it?" I ask with a graveled voice, cutting Rhys' words short. He just looked away, hiding his face and not daring to look into my fury. "Why the hell did you-!"
