(Nico comes up on a town called megaton. He approaches the gate and a protectron is waiting there)
Weld: Welcome to megaton. The bomb is perfectly safe. We promise. Have a nice visit
(Nico heads into megaton and is approached by a man in a sheriff hat named Lucas Simms)
Lucas: Well I'll be. You're from that vault. Vault 101! I ain't seen one of those jumpsuits in a long time. Name's Lucas Simms. Town sheriff, and mayor too when the need arises. Something tells me you're alright. So, welcome to megaton! Just holler if you need something
Nico: Nice town, sheriff. Pleasure to meet you
Lucas: Friendly AND well mannered? I think you and I are gonna get along just fine. You treat my people nice, and and you're welcome to stay as long as you like
Nico: Message received
Lucas: I'm glad we understand each other. Is there something I can help you with?
Nico: Lets discuss the giant bomb in the middle of the city
Lucas: What about it?
Nico: You don't think someone should disarm the thing?
Lucas: I don't trust any of the locals to tinker with it. Besides, most people don't even realize that it's still a threat. And hell, Cromwell and the crazies from the church of atom worship the damn thing. Why? Do you know how to disarm it for good?
Nico: I can see about disarming that bomb for ya, but I need something in return
Lucas: Sure. What is it?
Nico: I'm looking for my father. A middle aged man in a lab coat. Have you seen him by any chance?
Lucas: Nope. Sorry. I got enough fires to put out in this place that I don't have the time to keep tabs on every single visitor. I'd ask around town, mostly in Moriarity's saloon
Nico: Hmph. Oh well. Thanks anyway
(Nico goes over to the undetonated atomic bomb in the center of megaton and opens up a panel)
Nico: This is one of the bombs what dropped 200 years ago at the end of the great war. But it never went off. I know how to defuse it but it isn't gonna be easy. Or cheap
Lucas: What do you mean "or cheap"?
Nico: I'm not talking about payment. I'm talking about tools. I need some hardware if I'm gonna be able to defuse this thing
Lucas: We have some tools you could use, but please, be careful. One mistake's all it takes and you could kill us all
(Lucas gets Nico some tools and he begins his work. It takes hours because of his limited hardware, but Nico manages remove the radioactive core from the bomb and defuse the explosives inside. The rest of the bomb could be stripped for parts)
Nico: There. All done
Lucas: Well, color me impressed, kid! You did it! Come on up to Moriarity's with me. I'll buy the first round
Nico: Oh, no, I don't drink. I'm only 19, going on 20
Lucas: We have some club soda if you're interested
Nico: Sure. Why not?
(Lucas and Nico head up to Moriarity's saloon, and a ghoul named Gob pours them their drinks. Nico is surprised to see Gob's condition since he's never seen a ghoul in his life)
