(Nico is walking around, when all of a sudden he sees a familiar face running up to him)
Nico: What the-? Butch?!
Butch: Nico! Holy shit, I never knew I'd run into you out here! small world, eh?
Nico: What are you doing outside the vault? I thought the overseer put everyone into lockdown
Butch: I managed to split when they wasn't looking, ya dig? It was hard not having a doctor, and the vault's not really in better shape than when everything went down
Nico: I don't care about the vault, Butch. Plus, last I heard, I was exiled
Butch: That was before you saved the capital wasteland from the enclave! You finished your dad's purifier! And freed the pit's slaves! You're a hero, Nico
Nico: I'm not going back. I'm leaving the vault to it's fate. So, was there something else you wanted? I know you didn't come all this way just to make conversation
Butch: I didn't come here to convince you to come back, man. I needed to find you because I need your help
Nico: What, your mom having another radroach problem?
Butch: No! Susie Mack's been kidnapped!
(Nico laughs)
Nico: Really? That's it?
Butch: Yeah, her dad's a real dick, and her brother too, but she doesn't deserve a fate like that!
Nico: Since when do you care about how other people feel? You sure didn't when we were kids. Why in the ten rings of hell should I help the vault? Let alone the Mack family?
Butch: I'm not that guy anymore! Look, I know I've been a real jerk to you. To everyone. But I don't think I deserve to be stuck in that vault forever. Not when I could have a real life up there, like you
Nico: So basically what you're saying is you want me to rescue Susie and use her as leverage to convince the overseer, Amata's batshit crazy father, to open the vault?
Butch: Basically, yeah. Just make it so we can leave the vault, and I can go out and form my new life. Hell, maybe we can even form a gang, huh?
Nico: You're already outside the vault. What's stopping you from just doing that right now?
(Butch grabs Nico by the collar)

Nico: Alright. So, who kidnapped Susie?
Butch: Probably raiders. They were wearing sack hoods. And they're holding her for a ransom. They nabbed her when she snuck out
Nico: Do you know where they went?
Butch: They said to meet them at megaton in 12 hours. But they're gonna be there in force
Nico: Then you and I are gonna need some help
