Y/n woke up in a cold sweat, looking around her room. Daylight poured through the windows and a few birds chiroed outside. She sat up in her bed, putting a hand on her forehead to wipe away a bead of sweat.
Figuring that it was a nightmare, Y/n got out of bed and got dressed. She pulled her shirt off and her eye caught on her shoulder, which had a bite mark covered in dry blood. The mark was sore to the touch so she winced when she touched it.
"What the hell..." She muttered, her eyes trailing to the end of the bed where she recalled seeing the horrifying figure. A chill crawled down her spine as she remembered the horrors of that night.
It wasn't just another nightmare.
She put on a sweater and some sweatpants, making sure the bite marks was well hidden. She stretched her shoulder to try and relax the soreness, but it only hurt more.
With a sigh, she walked out of her room and into the kitchen. Something on the floor stuck to the underside of her slippers. She looked down to see a trail of black goop on the floor. A grimace etched in her expression and she took off her sticky slippers. Being careful to avoid the black goop, she top toed around it and put her slippers on the counter.
She remembered the creatures face from last light. That pale, blue mask and soulless eyes that dripped black tar. She looked back to the ground, looking at the trail. It lead to one of the livingroom windows, and the window was open. Her eyes widened and she hurried over to it, shutting and locking the window.
Hoping the creature was gone, she looked at the opposite side of the trail. It lead to her bedroom and to the end of her bed, and she wasn't suprised by that, but it also went from her room and down the hallway. The thin, black trail leading up the stairs and into the attic.
Her heart dropped to her stomach. It was like being in an actual horror movie. Her eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. The attic door was open. Y/n's stomach twisted into a knot of fear. The stairs creaked under her feet as she walk up them, each step just as dreadful as the last.
Her hand flipped the light switch, making the light bulb flicker on. A dim light spread across the room. The air was stale and dusty. Y/n coughed and brought her sweater to cover her nose.
A quiet rustiling came from the back of the attic, diverting Y/n's attention. She looked over the several boxes and bins that cluttered the attic.
The pale blue face looked from behind one of the boxes, as if it we're peeking out from a hiding spot. Y/n's face filled with dread as she made eye contact with the two black sockets.
"Who are you!?" Y/n said in a wavering voice. The being didn't reply. Y/n's nerves skyrocketed.
"Come out from back there" Y/n said firmly, holding the attic door handle. The being faced reminded her of the bite marks on her shoulder, making her shudder.
The being didn't move, if anything, it shrunk back further behind the boxes. It was almost acting shy, in a creepy and scary way.
Y/n noticed the thing had pointed ears that were a darker gray at the tips. The creature also had wispy, dark brown hair. She tilted her head, looking puzzled.
"You're not human, huh?" She said. It should have been something she figured out before, but the possibility that it was a humanoid being was frightening to think about.
He stared and stared until he finally retreated behind the boxes fully, dissapearing from her sight. Y/n slowly walked over towards the direction of the thing's disappearance. She turned her head to look behind the boxes
He wasn't there."Where did ya go?" Y/n asked, glancing around her. She moved a few of the boxes from her path, looking deeper in the attic, but he was gone.
Y/n scratched the back of her head and went back downstairs. She took a mop from the closet and started to wipe up the ooze trail that was left behind.
Throughout the rest of the day, there was clattering noises upstairs. Y/n figured it was the nameless creature wandering around, so she left him be. When it was almost dinner, the clattering died down and it went quiet.
Y/n had her dinner plate on her lap, flipping through TV channels. She noticed the silence and set her plate down. Perhaps he just decided to leave? Or maybe he fell asleep?
Y/n picked up her plate and her appetite soon vanished. She looked at the stairs.
Maybe he was hungry?
Y/n went up the stairs with the plate. She opened the door and turned on the light. A few boxes of holiday decorations were spilled on the floor, which explained the noises earlier. Y/N glimpsed around.
"Hey, I brought you a snack" She said, setting the plate in the middle of the floor. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the pale blue face. Her head looked around to see him looking back at her. She waved, then pointed to the plate on the floor.
If it was going to stay, it would be best to keep it friendly.
"Do you like food?" Y/n asked, tilting her head. He slowly turned his head to mirror Y/n's head tilt. It seemed that there wasn't enough trust for him to come out of hiding yet.
Y/n sighed at the lack of conversation and she slowly walked out of the attic, leaving the door slightly cracked open. She crouched down on the stairs, looking at the plate through the crack in the door.
Minutes pass and there isn't a sound from the attic. Y/n stayed dead silent, hoping to get even just a glimpse of his full stature, and she did.
The being carefully crawled out of hiding. It's whole body was gaunt and thin, and it was colored a charcoal gray. He looked like it hadn't eaten in months. His ribs and bones shown through his skin with each movement.
The smallest pinprick of pity settled in Y/n's heart as she watched him eat. The poor thing was shy and hungry, and she still hasn't heard him speak a word. The pity was soon thrown out the window as she saw what came next.
The light blue face split into two, revealing a mouth of sharp teeth and a long tongue, covered in black saliva. The tongue curled around the steak on the plate, bringing it to his mouth, and eating the whole piece of meat in one bite.
