I'm in the forest.
The sound of nature whistling into my ears as I hear beautiful birds and owls sing out. I begin to trudge through the plants, the soft dirt tickling my ankles as tall trees overshadow me.
Soft fingertips touch mine, and I turn. To my surprise it's Ruby Tolero, but she's telling me to run.
"What? Ruby, what's wrong?" I question concerned, as her grip on my hand is secure as I run with her through the forest.
A sheer look of anger is written across her face. She ignores me, and continues to run, but my feet can't catch up to her. I trip, and as soon as I'm about to hit the ground my eyes flicker open.
I sigh, rubbing my clammy hands across my eyes as I sit up, shutting my alarm off my phone. That sure as hell was a weird dream, and I really don't know why she was in my head.
"Anastasia, you up?" My mum shouts from her bedroom, and I can hear the solid clicks of her high heels frantically slamming against the wooden floor in haste.
"Yes ma," I yawn, and she comes in to my bedroom, giving me a swift kiss on the forehead before retreating downstairs.
"I'm late for work, have a good day at college Ana, I've left money for lunch!" The front door clicks shut, and I groan.
It's May, the sun is warm, but the breeze is still ice cold. In England, the weather is never predictable. When you see sun, it is usually quite cold outside, and when it is dull, it is usually either freezing cold, or surprisingly humid. I guess that's why us English people always complain about the weather, because it's wild, and cannot be tamed. Like an angry teenager, like Ruby Tolero.
After eating some cereal, and watching a bit of Jeremy Kyle, i get washed and dressed, before slinging my bag over my shoulder and walking out the front door.
"Hey," I greet my friend Sam, as he leans against his car with two coffee cups in his hands.
"Morning, smelly, i decided to be suuuuuuper cute, and brought you Costa. Caramel latte, don't drink it all in one go." He chuckles, slipping into his car and i follow.
"Thank you for this, was definitely needed. Barely slept, and i really do not have the energy for Mr Robinson's lecture today, just want to get all my assignments done, and leave for summer!" I sarcastically squeal, and take a sip of the hot coffee.
"Slow down, Ana banana, still got a good 2 months." I sigh, as we pull up to the college grounds.
I see the typical flock of girls, and boys following closely behind like dogs. I get out the car and walk to class with Sam, meeting my two friends Ashleigh and Kate on the way.
The day passes, lecture consisted of nonsense that is irrelevant to learn, but I managed to get most of an assignment done. I've known Sam my whole life, ever since nursery. Ashleigh and Kate, I've known them since I started here.
I'm studying English language and literature in college, i have hopes of becoming an author one day. Today was pretty weird so far, I feel somewhat different, but I can't put my finger on it.
It's lunch now, and we walk out of college and into town to get some lunch. Sam and Kate argued about subway and dominos, very tough choice I must admit, Ashleigh and I didn't mind, so we didn't get involved, and obviously the girl won the argument, so subway it was.
After ordering my favourite Italian BMT we sat down outside in the main park and ate.
"Even though I hate you for this, this sub is pretty good." Sam grumbles with his mouth full, and Katie smirks.
"See, young Samuel, I woman is always right." She takes another bite into her nachos.
"Feminist." He mumbles under his breath.
"What? Can't hear you under all those insecurities." Ashleigh and I laugh, and Sam just pouts whilst eating the rest of his sub.
The smell of marijuana suddenly poisons my nose, and I almost gag. I turn to see the typical group of wannabe thugs hovering by us.
"Sam, I failed this last assignment and got a referral." Danny, the supposed 'leader' snarled.
"So?" Sam shrugged, tossing his wrapper into the near by bin.
"So this is your fault, you faggot, do my fucking homework or get your head kicked in." I laugh, hysterically, and Ashleigh and Kate look at me with the most horrified look on their face.
I dust my thighs from the grass as I stand up.
"Excuse me," I smile, sarcastically, as I face the group of vigilantes.
"I know you're failing, and you're not educated enough to know that it's your own fault, but threatening the smartest guy of the class to do your homework is literally the funniest thing I've ever heard." I snicker, and they squint their bloodshot eyes at me in anger.
"Who gave you permission to talk, bitch, shouldn't you be in the kitchen?" I laugh harder, wiping my head dramatically as I pretend to calm down.
Sam gets up, and stands in front of me protectively.
"You can fuck right off if you think I'm ever doing anything for you." He snarls, and they take a step towards him.
"Hey you back off, asshole, go back to whatever dumpster you climbed out of." I hiss, and a police patrol officer walks over, and they scatter instantly.
"Hey is there a problem here?" The officer asks, and I sigh.
"Nope, just dealing with your average asshole." He laughs, before tilting his hat.
"You guys take it easy, have a nice day." We all thank him before making our way back to class.
The bell rings, finally, the long day is over.
Sam has got football practice, so I walk home by myself. Which is cool, I don't mind it, I like walking in fact, just not on overly hot days like this.
I stroll down the street where new houses are up for sale, it's pretty empty, this place will be sold out very quick. There are some beautiful detached houses.
I hear footsteps behind me, but it doesn't bother me, people walk past everyday.
I move across the path so that they can overtake me, but they never do.
I turn around to find Danny, smirking, holding a lit blunt in between his fingers.
"Hey, Bitch." His rotten teeth bite into his lip.
"Great. What do you want? I can't help you with your homework, sorry." I turn on my heels and begin to walk, but he catches up with me, and grabs my shoulders.
"you better get your filthy hands off me I swear to god." My heart begins to race as he slams me against the one of the brick walls that surround the small alleyway which leads to the main road.
"See now, you're going to help me with my homework, or I will fuck you, but you'll probably love it, so that's not really a threat, right?" His vile breath blows against the side of my face, and that's enough for me to spit in his face.
"Get the fuck off me!" I shout, trying to push him off but he's surprisingly stronger.
"right, for that, I'm going to fuck you right here and now." He grabs my hair, causing my bag to fall from my shoulder as he slams my face into the wall.
My head is burning from the impact, my vision slightly blurred as his grip around the back of my Wrists and neck tighten.
"Oh you're going to wish you were fucking dead." I hear a faint voice near by, and hastily his grip is released from my body, and I collapse, in complete and utter shock.
All I see is inked arms, and a tall slender figure kicking Danny in the stomach as he lay on the floor.
Shit, I'm next, is the last thing I can think of, before I black out.
