After kicking stones in annoyance on my walk home, I sigh, my mind in a million pieces and scattered beneath my feet. I feel confused, lost, upset, and angry. I feel guilty for my petty actions which has led to me losing Michael, and having him screw a stranger.
I roll my eyes at the disgusting, revolting thought, and then, like always, my mind goes back to Ruby. She's very caring, protective over me, in such a way that when she says she doesn't feel "love", it's very hard to believe. I'm very much confused with my sexuality, I guess it's time to admit that I'm bisexual, simply because I enjoyed /every/ moment with Ruby, sexual or not. The way we danced, how she calls me nicknames and makes me react to her so easily, like she's an annoying allergy, or an addictive drug.
I get home, finally, pulling my feet up the stairs and taking off an oversized t-shirt which belonged to her. Her scent looming all over the fabric. I pick up my phone, missed calls and texts from both ruby and Michael causing my head to pound harder in annoyance. I needed to get my mind off of everything. But how?
Night falls and I eat dinner with my mother, listening to her chat about females at work and how much they piss her off, and when she asked me how my day was, I simply said fine.
"I'm going out," I state, after washing up the dishes in the sink.
"Oh, with who?" My mother asks as she packs away dry tableware and fiddles with the rock which sat on her earlobe.
"Rachael, I'm staying round hers tonight, if that's ok?"
My mother kisses my cheek before retreating upstairs with a bowl of popcorn to probably binge watch her favourite tv soap. I go upstairs, getting changed into casual clothes and packing a small bag with a dress, a few toiletries and my favourite heels. I walk over to my bedroom window, peering across at the Tolero household to find her room dark, and empty. I don't know why I expected anything different.
I picked up my phone, dialling Sam's number, since my mum would never let me sleep round a boys house- no matter how long Sam and I have been friends, so Rachael was, let's just say a small lie?
"Hey Ana!" Sam cheered, before I heard crunching from the other side of the phone.
"Hey dork, what the hell are you eating- stones?!" I giggle, before walking out my front door and locking it with my bad.
"Close, I'm eating.... DEEZ NUTS!" I pause, facepalming before hearing a sudden-
"HA! GOT EMMMM" Sam chants, and I can't help but laugh at his idiotic self.
"Hey, I'm on my way to yours, by the way." I inform, biting my lower lip before Sam falls silent. The only time I've ever stayed round sam's unannounced is when my father left, and he didn't hesitate to be there for me. In the past I have returned the favour also.
"Oh, alright, okay, just knock, where are you? Let me come get you," he mumbles quickly, and I giggle.
"It's only 6pm, it's sunset, I'm fine. See you soon, weirdo." I smile before putting the phone down, inhaling the cold air before getting a call back instantly.
"Sam I said I'm fine!" I laugh, and then I hear her voice.
"Anastasia." Ruby addresses, and I purse my lips together.
"Hi, Ruby." I sigh, I'm not mad at her, I just need a day or so to think, clear my head, to forget.
"Can we talk? I've been worried, quite frankly. It was a mess today." She admits with a groan, and I look up at the shrinking sun.
"Can we talk some other time, I need some time to myself." I ask, and she falls silent for a while.
"Yeah, yeah of course. See you, little girl." And with that, the line goes dead.
I huff, shoving my phone in my pocket before finally arriving at Sam's house and knocking at the door, only for him to swiftly answer and pull me straight into a tight hug.
"Ok, girl, tell me everything." He almost pulls me in as he takes my bag for me, and I smile as I shake my head.
"Wine, vodka, water?" He offers with a tilted eyebrow, knowing my answer to this question would tell him how fucked up my situation is.
"Vodka." I nod, before walking upstairs with him to his room and taking a seat.
"Oh and Sam," I call down the stairs.
"Yeaaaup?" He calls back,.
"Fancy going clubbing, or to a bar?" I mutter, and I look to see Sam at the bottom of the staircase with a grin.
"Fuck, to the yes."
