(3rd person POV)
The crew of the Ghost spread throughout the Capital City marketplace. The Jedi, Kanan Jarrus, stood beside the main market stalls. His Padawan, 15-year-old Ezra Bridger walked around the main open area, pretending to be browsing the shops and stalls. Dressed in customized Mandolorian armour, Sabine Wren surveyed the marketplace from her perch on the rooftops. The Lasat, Garazeb 'Zeb' Orrellios, leaned against the wall in a dark doorway on the side of the road the marketplace was set on. Their pilot, Hera Syndulla was in docking bay 135 at the spaceport, with her droid, 'Chopper', and was prepping the ship for takeoff.
Ezra walked by a squadron of stormtroopers, casually dropped a bomb on the ground, and quickly strode away. Kanan watched from the sidelines as the bomb went off, covering all of the stormtroopers in graffiti. Sabine leaped down from the roof with a flourish and pulled out two twin blaster pistols, blasting the troopers left and right. Kanan rolled beside her, pulling out his own blaster and firing. Ezra climbed onto a close rooftop and used his energy slingshot to stun troopers so that his friends could blast them. Eventually, he grabbed his lightsaber, triggered the built-in blaster function, and just shot the so-called "bucketheads". Zeb pulled out his bow-rifle and with a mighty roar, began to strike down the troopers. When all of their enemies were taken care of, Ezra jumped down from the roof and began to grab the dropped weapons that the troopers had used. The others joined in and grabbing as many as they could carry, the rebels raced back to bay 135, climbed aboard their ship, and Hera took off.
(Ezra POV)
"TIE Fighters incoming!" Hera shouted into the com. "Kanan, turret! Sabine, aft guns! Zeb, nose guns! Ezra, rear deflector shield's down, try and fix it! Chopper, get us to hyperspace!"
The Force warns me just in time. I turn around to see Chopper barreling down the hallway at top speed, and I leap over him as he flies past me.
"Watch it, you bucket of bolts!" I shout after him, but all I get is a loud grumble and insult in return. Shaking my head, I run after him towards the cockpit.
"Ezra! Shields!" Hera calls as soon as I open the door.
I slide under one of the control panels at the front of the cockpit and start fiddling with wires, trying desperately to fix the rear deflector shields. Without them, we're pretty much toast. I plug two cut wires together, but instead of the spark I was hoping for, receive a cloud of grey smoke in my face. Coughing, I fumble for the next wire, eyes watering from the smoke at close range. Then suddenly I feel a cool grey steam rush over my head, like a giant wind. It's relieving, but cold and slightly wet....
"Chopper!" I yell as the astromech sprays me with his built-in fire extinguisher. He rolls away doing his messed up version of a laugh and I feel the ship shake as we jump to hyperspace. Taking that as my sign to hurry up, I connect the right wires this time and the spark signifies that the shields are up and running once again.
"Got it!" I tell Hera, sliding back out from under the panel. Chopper continues to gurgle at me, and I fix him with a glare.
"Oh, you're scrap metal for that one." I say and jump on top of him. He squeals and races out the door of the cockpit with me on top of him, nearly rolling over a surprised Kanan.
"Ezra! Get off of him! I need to talk to you!" My Master shouts at me. I sigh and leap backwards off of Chopper, neatly landing in a somersault and climbing to my feet. Chopper beeps an insult to me and wheels out of sight.
"So, what's up?" I ask Kanan, approaching him. "Besides Chopper being a giant pain and annoyance."
Kanan wastes no time getting to the important stuff. "Ezra, we have a very important mission coming up. Well, not we. You. There's a Force-sensitive enrolled at the Imperial Academy on Lothal, named Crystal Kae. According to an Imperial transmission that we recently uncoded from Fulcrum, the Inquisitor is coming to Lothal to take all the Force-sensitives in the Academy to Coruscant. If Crystal's abilities are discovered, he will take her and either train her as an Inquisitor, I assume, or kill her. And we can't let that happen.
"You'll be going undercover as another Cadet. Fulcrum has arranged it so that you are assigned to the same squadron as Crystal. Your job is to break her out of the Academy, preferably with as little attention as possible, and to bring her back to us so we can hand her over to Fulcrum. But it is paramount that you don't reveal your own abilities with the Force, in any way or form whatsoever. Got it?" Kanan says sternly.
"Got it. Does she know that she's Force-sensitive?" I ask.
"I don't know. Either way, we have to get her out of the Academy. Hera's already setting course; you're due at the Academy tomorrow."
"Sounds good." This is kind of cool, I've never had to do anything like this before! That decoder was one thing, but breaking out a whole person will be a lot harder.... And funner.
"Great. Come with me. Sabine is going to disguise you a little bit, so the Imperials don't recognize you from last time." Kanan starts for Sabine's room, but I call after him.
"Kanan.... What happens if Crystal doesn't want to leave the Academy?"
He meets my gaze steadily. "We'll figure that out if we come to it. I have an idea about that anyways. But hopefully, we don't need to put it into action."
"That's really comforting," I reply sarcastically, crossing my arms.
"I know," he says, and smirks, gesturing to Sabine's room. "Come on."
I sigh dramatically and join my Master at his side.
