See, the thing about stormtroopers is that they don't search you when they throw you (Literally!) in a cell. So I grab my lock pick from where I concealed it in my boot. Within seconds, I'm free. I don't have a helmet, but I still have my uniform. It's night in the Academy, so I sneak into Crystal's room and tap her on the shoulder. She wakes up and I cover her mouth with my hand.
"Mm!" She protests.
"Shh. Come with me."
She shakes her head. "Crystal, please."
She hesitates, then nods her head. I carefully remove my hand from her mouth and grab her hand. I lead her to the Imperial docking bay andThe Ghost is there, waiting. Kanan extends the ramp. "Hurry!"
"Renn, what are you doing? Renn, stop!" Crystal pulls back, halting me.
"Spectre 6, get down!" Kanan shouts. I hear the him of a lightsaber flying towards me. I duck, pulling Crystal down with me. The lightsaber zooms over our heads and and then returns to an angry Inquisitor. Kanan pulls out his blaster and starts blasting at the bucketheads flooding in.
"Spectre 6, let's go !" He shouts, firing away and knocking down troopers left and right. Sabine rushes out with her twin pistols, Mandilorian helmet on, and blasts away. I pull Crystal up and race towards the ship. Kanan grabs Crystal and pulls her aboard. The Ghost starts to take off.
"Spectre 6! Jump!" Kanan yells; It's too late. A lucky shot hits my leg, rendering it useless. I fall to the ground in pain. The Ghost is too far in the air now for me to jump un-aided and it's getting hammered with blaster fire.
"Kanan, go!" I shout at him. He hesitates. "Go! Get her out of here!"
Kanan shakes his head, motions to Sabine to get Crystal inside, then leaps down. He activates his blue lightsaber and deflects the blaster fire. He picks me up and the Force-leaps, just barely landing on the ramp of the Ghost. We zoom away. I look down to see the Inquisitor scowl; and then turn to glare at me personally. The ramp closes, and Kanan helps me up.
"What are you doing? Renn! What is going on?" Crystal shouts. "You just kidnapped me!"
"Okay, it MAY look like that. But we just saved you! The Inqusitor, creepy guy with the red lightsaber? He was going to kidnap you anyway. I saved your butt by getting captured!" I respond angrily.
"What? Captured??" Kanan exclaims.
"Long story. Point is, the Empire is evil. We're the good guys, not them. Crystal you're Force-sensitive: Meaning you can be trained to be a Jedi."
Crystal gapes at me. "You can't be serious. No way! All the Jedi died."
"Did you not just see me use my lightsaber?" Kanan asks. "Crystal, I'm pretty much the last Jedi, well, Ezra and I. If you want to be a part of that, you can."
Crystal hesitates, then nods. "Alright. One question: Who's Ezra?"
"That would be me. Renn was my cover name," I smile at her.
"Oh. Okay." She smiled shyly back.
Kanan notices the flow of energy in the room. "Ezra, let's get you to the medbay. You got shot in the leg. Sabine, show Crystal to her room."
"Gotcha," Sabine says. "Come on Crystal." Crystal follows her, turning to smile at me again. Kanan picks me up and takes me to medbay then.
