- SOMETHIN' STUPID -

summary:
in which the roles are reversed and peter's the one who's spent years in a lovesick daze before finally the time feels right and he says somethin' stupid like, "i love you"

word count: 5.4k

author's note:
i've been working on something pretty angsty so before i shatter our hearts, let's remember peter for the lovesick fool he truly is

this is of course inspired by the song somethin' stupid by frank and nancy sinatra, so i highly recommend listening to the song either before reading or while you read! it's really just too much cuteness that way

also, this is set up as  !!peter and liz being in college!!  and doesn't at all go along with my tasm book's storyline. this is simply random and i expect you all will not hold any of peter's embarrassing antics against him

(oh, and i made a mood board)

thank you very much, please enjoy

i know i stand in line until you think
you have the time to spend an
evening with me
and if we go someplace to dance
i know that there's a chance you
won't be leaving with me

then afterwards, we drop into a
quiet little place
and have a drink or two
and then i go and spoil it all
by saying somethin' stupid like,
"i love you"

PETER HAD NEVER been a party animal. He didn't really get the appeal. It was very... loud.

There were lots of reasons he'd protest frat parties like the one he was at right now. From the weird substance he spotted in a corner next to a passed out student, to what he figured was an orgy happening in one of the bedrooms upstairs.

     They were in fact, stupid.

However, Peter prided himself on being a good friend. The best, actually. And his best friend had about five beers within a two hour timeframe, so he couldn't just leave.

Yes, he had to make sure she got home safe, but he was also able to spy on her without it being too weird.

He was certain he was getting odd looks from the people surrounding him, but Liz knew he was there to make sure she got home safely, so to him, none of their stares really mattered. The only person whose validation he practically thirsted for had just laughed so hard she nearly face-planted.
