- Picture of Maddie-

I stood there, shocked. Maddie's story replaying in my head.

"Ever since you left it's like you took the good part of him with you." she paused, pain clouded in her eyes. "He killed forest animals for fun, beat other pack members, and disrespected the old alpha. He was a pig and slept with every female in the pack who he could get his hands on. If a rouge entered our territory without warning, they would immediately be captured and tortured to death. Oh, but him as an alpha is even worse. Brad has forbidden anyone to be with their destined mates-"

My loud gasp cut her off. "Sorry, please continue." I said as calm as I could.

She nodded, and drew a large breath in and continued. "And if anyone dares to go against him-" Maddie paused again. Tears welled up into her eyes, as if a memory began to play back. "Their mate would be killed right in front of their eyes, and would be killed with a large dose of wolfsbane."

For a couple minutes the room was dead silent. I fought to control my wolf from coming forth and going out of control. Finally I broke the silence when I felt I was calm enough.

"I'm.. Going.. To.. Kill.. Him.." I spat out. My eyes were now completely black. Angel has taken control, and I'm not sure she'll let me get control back so easily.

Angel growled, baring her teeth. "How could he do this?"

"Angel, please, give me back control, we'll talk later, but now I really need to talk with Maddie." I pleaded.

Angel shook her furry head. "I..I can't. I'm so angry I just want to kill something!"

"Please, Angel, we'll talk later, just let me speak, I promise after I'll take us for a run. A long, long run."

"Fine. Only on one condition. I take control during the run." Angel growled. She was very irritated and I understood why.

I sighed. "Fine, but please, don't do anything stupid. I beg you."

Angel scoffed. "Whatever." and blocked all further communication.

I looked at Maddie, who stared with me at wide eyes. "Sorry, Angel was quite upset, please keep going."

Maddie nodded, still wide-eyed. "Well, that's why I left. I couldn't handle being treated so awful. I'm so glad I left. I found my best friend and my mate."

I began to cry. "Oh Maddie! I'm so sorry he treated you like that! I promise you he will pay."

Maddie began to cry too. "I was so scared, Alaska! I Felt so powerless! He..He killed my parents." Maddie began to sob uncontrollably, her breathing becoming sharp and quick. Her voice quivered as she spoke. "I-I felt so alone. My mom and dad defied Brad, and they were executed for the entire pack to see. I was alone for five whole years."

"Maddie, I'm going to get revenge for you. Your parents will not die in vain, and that is a promise.

We embraced and with a few more tears shed, left the room, making our way downstairs. Immediately, Cody rushed to Maddie's side and kissed her forehead. A pang of jealousy washed over me and for the first time in seven years I longed for a proper mate, and not some psycho killer who had no heart.

Angel whimpered in agreement. "Well, Alaska you know there are second chance mates right?"

I sighed. "Angel, those are very rare. Only four cases in the world."

"But there is a chance!" Angel said.

"A very slim chance. Now stop getting your hopes up. It will never happen and you better start to accept that." I immediately regretted what I had said, but it was too late.
