There she stood. My mother. Looking out into the distant star-washed sky, a vague smile lightly settled on her face. I called to her, but my voice was different. My voice was high-pitched, all of a sudden, and I realized how tall everything around me was. I was little again.
Immediately, everything dropped. All my worries, all my regrets, all my grief. It all just withered away. Because here, in this moment, everything was perfectly tranquil. And this moment was all I could focus on. The sand beneath my feet, the gentle breeze in the air, the moonshine that had always captured my mother. She crouched down to me, her arms wide open, and my little legs rushed towards her. Her embrace was warm and loving and teeming with everything that I'd craved.
"My sweet boy," She spoke, stroking my hair with her tender touch, causing my smile to grow wider. "Let's go, shall we?"
And she took my hand, leading me into the abyss of the desert.
And as she walked, she hummed a tune. A tune that I once knew.
And the rest I can't tell you.
But there's a lot of bright light, and warmth, and peace.
The entire concept of it is so heavily debated about, but the reality is nothing short of quiet.
You just go back to where you came from. Go back to it all. The source. The everything. Every memory that ever was, is and ever will be. Every item, every smile, every word, everything's birthplace.
I can't explain it in mortal words. It's not something our minds are supposed to comprehend. But it's beautiful.
It's so, so beautiful.
And I'm free.
