JUST CREEPIN'

KAMARION MONTGOMERY
OCTOBER 24th; TUESDAY

"ALRIGHT, LAST QUESTION doobie. You ready?" Bam asked the thirteen year old boy. When he nodded, he looked at him.

"So the first thing you gotta do is add what to both sides." He wanted the younger boy to fill in the blanks.

"Add the ten to both sides then divide it by 2 because it's 2x." Doobie responded eyeing the math equation. Bam smiled and nodded passing him the pencil.

Staying true to his word, he got a job at the rec to occupy his free time. Especially since he wasn't in high school any more. He instantly took an interest in the after school program, and that was what he chose.

He could've really been anything though, even a life guard for the pool. After working there for four days he noticed it was always one boy who always stayed back later than the rest of the kids because he struggled with his homework the most.

So for the past two weeks he had been helping him. Not only was bam helping him, but he was helping himself feel better about himself too. Being able to help people made him happy.

Especially children, people in need, and most of all recovering drug addicts.

"You did good today, and in record time. I'm telling you, algebra one gone be a piece of cake next year." He swore to doobie watching him place his paper in his folder. Doobie was a thirteen year old eighth grader who was currently in pre-algebra.

"I know right, I can't wait to tell my sister man. She gone be so proud of me." The boy had a big smile on his face.

The boy always talked about his sister, and how she looked out for him since his mom was barely around. From the few stories he heard, bam really had to give her , her props. She seemed to be doing a good job with the resources she had.

"I'm sure she will lil bro." Bam agreed with him, happy that he was in a good mood. "Let's go shoot some hoops til it's time to go." He suggested once doobie got everything packed up.

"Aight man!" He easily agreed sitting his back pack down and following bam out of the computer room, down the stairs. The stairs led right to the basketball gym, that was also being occupied by a few other people, but they weren't in the way.

The two played with each other up until it was time to go, and doobie ran upstairs getting his back pack quickly before meeting bam at the bottom of the stairs.

"You coming tomorrow?" Bam asked him as they walked side by side with each other.

"Yeah you know it. But if I don't go to school I'm not coming. I hate school. My sister dont ever let me stay home unless I'm sick though, so yeah." Doobie ranted making bam laugh.

"Boy, it took you long enough." The soft voice was heard as soon as they walked out the double doors that led to the front where the door to the inside play ground, and the reception desk was.

"Pierre ! I finished my homework faster than all the other days today." He immediately bragged, ignoring her complaint on him taking to long.

Her face quickly morphed into a smile. "That's so good, I'm happy your doing better." She looked at her brother. They were the same height, and she knew for a fact he wasn't done growing.

She hated that her baby brother was growing so fast. It was such a bitter sweet thing to watch. "Yep, all thanks to bam. He helped me understand." Doobie bragged on his friend who was standing at the reception desk going through the after school sign out sheet.
