Carlos and Natasha spent the next few hours taking turns to keep watch over Jill whilst the other rested,
Natasha insisted that she take the first watch, despite the fact that both of them were exhausted-
Natasha predicted that her endurance could go further, in fact she wasn't sure she could rest even if she tried.
Too many thoughts and questions occupied her mind each memory seem to conflict with another,
Two of those questions being Nikolai Zinoviev and Sergie Vladimir, she couldn't stop thinking about the latter.
The Colonel had gone on to found the U.B.C.S department at Umbrella-
Which was surprising to her as she'd considered Colonel Vladimir to be long dead- she had realised that had been wishful thinking on her part.
Sergie Vladimir had once been a friend of General Dreykov 'Her old Red Room master' until, for reasons that the Black Widow didn't know the two Russians fell out of favour with each other,
She recalled Dreykov telling her that if she ever encountered Sergie Vladimir to kill him on sight 'Which was something she still intended to do'
However, she was curious, she'd never given it too much thought before as to why the two Russians hated each other so much after over a decade of loyal service-
Black Widow intended to look into it when she was out of Raccoon City.
In her youth she had met Colonel Vladimir in the Red Room where he acted as an enforcer for the KGB.
One of the prominent steps in creating the Widows was to destroy their humanity, from what she recalled breaking the willpower of little girls had been something the Colonel enjoyed the most-
To this day she couldn't think about it without feeling slightly sick.
"Do you ever sleep?" Carlos tirelessly mumbled as she paced back and forth
"Nope, I'm secretly a Vampire, I don't need sleep" Carlos laughed,
The truth was that Black Widow didn't need much in way of rest anymore, sleep deprivation had been another fun activity she'd undertook during her time in the Red Room.
All of a sudden, a breathless Tyrell burst through the doors taking both Carlos and Natasha by surprise,
"Jesus Tyrell, what happened!?" Carlos exclaimed,
Tyrell was clearly injured, and his dark skin had taken on a very ashy appearance, something had really spooked him, and Natasha had a bad feeling, whatever it was, it was very, VERY bad.
Tyrell switched on the TV in the ER, the old television set displayed the local emergency broadcast system:

"Attention all citizens, the contagion spread throughout the city has been classed as uncontainable. On October 1st Raccoon City will be completely destroyed in a missile strike"

Natasha and Carlos shared a wide eyed silent look that portrayed how screwed they all were, whilst Tyrell felt sick, they were so fucked:-

"All residents capable of rational thought are required to evacuate immediately, this is not a test".

The emergency transmission continued the message on repeat,
"That's only one day away, there's still people in this city!" Carlos exclaimed, Natasha began to adjust the settings on her Stingers, she needed to speak with someone outside the city, anyone that would listen to her-
"You think Uncle Sam gives a shit?" Tyrell winces, his injuries were severe, and he considered himself lucky to have made it to the hospital alive.
A loud noise outside caused the three of them to bolt towards the door,
"Fuck- here they come" Tyrell whispered, he'd tried his best to lose the hordes of undead, unfortunately they had chased him all the way to the hospital,
"You sit tight we got this" Carols said to Tyrell,
Natasha nodded, the other U.B.C.S Officer was clearly exhausted and injured- it would be best to leave this battle to them.
Natasha went about reloading her weapons there sounded like there was a lot of Zombies outside and since she'd found Dr Bard dead, she really wanted to shoot something.
Carlos and Natasha went about barricading the doors into the ER with anything they could find, benches, supply crates, tables, and an old generator.
Both of them stood back to admire their handywork, but they knew that if the Zombie horde overpowered them then their work would be next to useless-
"Ok that should do it" Carlos mumbled,
Natasha looked over through the window which was currently under relentless assault from the horde outside, she couldn't even put a number- there was that many.
"I'm gonna try and lower the window shutters" Tyrell announced over the comms.
The Zombies pounded hard on the glass windows that were set to smash any moment now,
"And how do we do that?" Carlos asked as he took up a defensive position next to the Avenger
"I'm gonna try hacking into the hospital security system, keep them off me in the meantime" as if sensing their moment, the undead horde smashed through the glass and flooded into the hospital like a tidal wave of rotting corpses.
"Ok, now the fun shit" Carlos yelled over the chaotic sound of heavy weapons fire, the horde was relentless, but so were they.
Every Zombie that tumbled through the now broken windows was immediately met with heavy gun fire,
Black Widow growled in anger and frustration- she hated this, all these Zombies had once been people, but now they were monsters.
"Don't let them near the door!" she yelled to Carlos who quickly flipped between his weapons, only momentarily stopping to reload his assault rifle.
Natasha shot out with her Stingers which caused some of the approaching Zombies to twitch and convulse in some kind of horrific type dance,
Natasha quickly flipped back to her Glocks shooting each of the stunned Zombies in the head before they could move.
Suddenly there was a loud clicking noise as all the lights above them turned off leaving them in almost complete darkness
"Oh come on!" Carlos shouted as they switched on the torch lights fixed on their gear
"Find the breaker, it must be somewhere!" Tyrell yelled through the comms; with no power he wouldn't be able to get the window shutters closed.
"Carlos, you focus on power, I'll handle the Zombies" she rolled a grenade over to where the Zombies pilled inside resulting in a large explosion of bodies.
A loud bang comes from the door that led back into the main part of the hospital; Carlos supposed that all the noise they'd been making had attracted the attention of the Hunters that patrolled the hospital hallways.
It slashed at him and Carlos was too slow to dodge as the creatures sharp claw caught his arm,
Natasha worried as she saw the creature attack him at a speed that was unnatural- still fighting the Zombies, she threw over a flash bang- giving Carlos the few seconds he needed to get back up to his feet.
"Thanks" Carlos yelled as he threw a grenade under the 'Hunter' then fired at the creature keeping it pinned in place as the explosion beneath it took it down, after the creature collapsed.
Carlos quickly ran inside the room behind the reception desk where he found the breaker, he swiftly flipped the switches back upright flooding the reception area with light again.
He re-joined the Black Widow in fending off the horde- one of the Zombies got too close to the barricaded room as Natasha was reloading her guns.
The red heads body instantly turned mid-air kicking the Zombie across the room where Carlos quickly shot it in the head
"Ok I've almost got it!" Tyrell yelled through the comms.
Natasha switched to her Glocks as her assault rifle ammo was looking scarily low, she proceeded to dead shot several Zombies in quick succession,
Carlos shook his head- he couldn't afford to be distracted by the Avengers intense almost superhuman style of fighting as long as he got to shoot a few Zombies too.
'These are the slowest fucking shutters' Natasha angrily thought, they were both running very low on ammo and wouldn't be able to hold out against the horde for much longer, another Hunter noisily crashed into the reception,
Natasha rolled a flash grenade in its direction blinding it as it was immediately suppressed with automatic gunfire.
Natasha is taken back to Sokovia where the Avengers fought relentlessly to stop Ultron from using the city to destroy the world, that fight had been relatively easy compared to this one.
Suddenly, the main hospital doors were forced in as the shutters sealed all the windows 'at least it's only one point of entry' Natasha thought as she went about resolving that issue-
"What are you doing!?" Carlos yelled as Natasha fitted a plastic explosive and a convenient detonator to one of the large pillars in the room, if her math was correct 'and it was very rarely wrong'
"I'm going to block the exit" at least she hoped this was going to work.
The timer was pre-set with thirty seconds, and it may as well have been the longest thirty seconds of either of their lives as they threw everything they had at the undead horde,
Natasha fired with her Stingers whilst Carlos sprayed and prayed with his assault rifle.
The detonator beeped as it hit 00:00, both Carlos and Natasha leapt for cover behind the reception desk,
They instinctively held on to each other for support as the explosion shook the entire room sending the large structure crashing into the entrance stopping the relentless horde for good.
As the dust settled, they released their tight grip on the other and looked over their cover, much to their amazement they were still alive.
Natasha let out a loud breath
"Are you alright Carlos?" she asked he shook the dust out from his hair,
Carlos laughed he couldn't believe they actually survived that, his heartbeat felt primed to burst out of his chest "I- I'm fine, let's check on the others" Carlos said with a shaky breath
"Widow, Carlos are you two alright?" Tyrell asked over the comms,
Carlos laughed "Not even close, but at least it's over. We're coming back"
After dismantling the barricade they went back into the ER Ward and went to check on Jill who was looking much better, but was still unconscious.
"That vaccine is the real deal" Tyrell stated as the infection in Jill's features faded,
Natasha and Carlos collapsed into the other chairs,
They knew they needed to locate the entrance to go underground in search of the rest of the cure, but at least for a few short moments- they could rest.
