Revelations in NEST 2

LOCATION: Umbrella Underground Lab (NEST 2)

Jill and Tyrell quickly took the front flank as they entered the Underground Lab, an unnaturally bright hallway hurt Jill's eyes,
They all turn to the left when all of a sudden, a loud thumping noise caused Jill's blood to freeze-
"Shit!" Natasha exclaimed as Tyrell shot at the creature,
It was the same bastard that had been hunting Jill all night, but now it had evolved into something different something very far from human.
It quickly grabbed Tyrell, slamming his body hard against the wall
"Tyrell!" Jill yelled whilst Black Widow kept firing at the creature.
Jill supported the horrifically injured Tyrell whilst Natasha kept the monster distracted, it's arm (which was now a fleshy tentacle) thrashed towards her,
Black Widow flipped elegantly through the air dodging the creature's angry attack-
Natasha briefly glanced at Jill who was trying hard to drag a very injured Tyrell to safety
"No- keep going. We're almost there" Jill attempted to reassure him;
She was adamant that no one else was going to die today- especially because of this fucking asshole.
Suddenly, the creature deciding that it wasn't going to be able to kill the acrobatic Avenger-
It struck its barbed tentacle towards Tyrell, painfully impaling him through the chest,
"NO!" Jill screamed as Tyrell pushed her away from him. Black Widow felt like she watched the last five seconds in slow motion
"GO!" Tyrell yelled to them as the monster carelessly threw Tyrell's body against the hard wall.
The creature emitted an angry roar at the two women, Natasha quickly forces herself to run grabbing a shocked Jill on her path.
The monster furiously charged after them, Natasha spotted the controls to descending bulkhead shutter, she quickly threw one of her electric disks at the controls causing the heavy bulkhead to slam shut,
They both leapt across the threshold leaving the monster trapped on the other side.
Jill breathed heavily, in and out as Rebecca had taught her- she knew it was too good to be true, that she had seen the last of her relentless stalker, too good to be true that more people weren't going to die- because of her,
"Shit!" she yelled into the uncaring silence.
Natasha understood her frustration completely that- monster was relentless and now it was physically adapting becoming stronger with each encounter,
She'd never seen anything like it- it was a monster that looked like it had crawled out of hell itself.
"I'm sorry Jill, but there's nothing we can do about it anymore" Black Widow didn't mean for her words to come out so cold, she was pissed about Tyrell's death too- but she didn't have time to be sad when there was still work to do,
"It's like I'm fucking cursed or something, everyone around me just keeps dying!" she was afraid for the sake of Carlos and Natasha, the only two friends that she had left in this nightmare,
"Well- I'm still alive, and let me tell you. No ублюдок bred in an Umbrella lab is going to be the end of me" Natasha smirked, not that the creature didn't terrify her a little, but her words seemed to provide Jill with some comfort,
"If you say so". Natasha took the lead in exploring the rest of the facility, she wasn't sure what to expect down here-
Umbrella's top secret operations hidden underneath the bustling City above seemed almost unreal 'How on earth did they manage to build all this?' Natasha wondered to herself,
The Umbrella scientists had also fallen victim to the rest of the outbreak that contaminated the city as the corridors were filled with groups of undead corpses wearing uniforms and lab coats that bore the sinister red and white Umbrella logo.
Black Widow comes across some documentation she found in the blood-stained halls that provided Natasha into some more insight in regards to how Umbrella treated it's employees and even most of them seemed to be working for the pharmaceutical company against their will, Umbrella had deep pockets and some very morally unambiguous friends in high places.
Black Widow and Jill both looked forward to dismantling the pharmaceutical company in the most painful and ruthless way possible.
Jill fires with her shotgun at the undead that awoke at their presence whilst Natasha sprayed the group of Zombies with her assault rifle
"Do you think that creature was ever human?" Jill suddenly asked,
It was an interesting question- something that Natasha had briefly pondered herself when she first saw it, but she doubted that the monster had ever been 'physically' human,
Most likely it was the DNA extracted from someone with very impressive genetics that was eventually cultivated into embryo's in an Umbrella Lab,
Similar to how the Tyrants had been created, but this creature was so much more, she couldn't pretend to understand Umbrella's thought process in how they developed their B.O.W's, that was the kind of thing she left to the likes of Stark and Banner
"Who knows" truthfully Jill hoped that it had never been human- to end up dissected and mutilated in an Umbrella lab, the thought made her shiver.
Natasha threw a grenade out into the busy corridor as they both quickly take cover in one of the side rooms-
Jill was kind of glad that Chris and Barry weren't in Raccoon City anymore, the thought of that monster going after either of them made her feel sick, she had few friends left now a days
"Well, well what have we here?" Natasha mumbles as she looks at what appears to be some kind of giant centrifuge,
Jill taps on the controls of the machine causing the computer AI to reboot-
"To begin Vaccine Synthesis place the materials into the chambers"
Jill and Black Widow shared a confused look, they'd been under the impression that more samples of the cure where underground, not the materials to make it.
"Synthesis? We have to make it ourselves!?" Jill exclaimed,
Natasha rolled her eyes 'Why can nothing be straight forward' Natasha thought to herself when she found a document signed by the recently deceased Doctor Bard,
She read through it whist Jill examined a prominent looking control switchboard-
"Override Key Available" the computer AI stated,
"What have we here?" Jill whispered as she removed the key from the computer's hard drive,
"Override Key Removed" the computer announced
'This will definitely come in handy' Jill thought as she looked back at the Black Widow who was intently studying the documents that she'd seen next to the centrifuge.
Luckily Natasha held a strong grasp on the concept of microbiology, she'd spent hours in the lab at the Avengers compound listening to Banner, she was sure if she could listen to all of his lectures then she could definitely figure this out
"Ok, we can do this- lets try searching the cold storage of some of the other labs"
They were going to need two samples, an Antigen and an Adjuvant to create the base of the vaccine, the machine would do the rest of the work,
Thankfully the Doctors essay revealed that they should be able to find the samples in the lab.
They continue following the halls that ran through the facility until they come across another sealed door,
Jill inputs the override key that she'd taken from the main computer
"Override complete" the computer announced as the door opened into a staircase, and more Zombies.
They start by going up where they soon encounter another of the 'White Zombie' creatures, she suspected this is the lab where they were created,
"You'd think Umbrella facilities would have better contingency plans to deal with outbreaks" Natasha stated to Jill as they kept up the assault on the undead, only momentarily pausing to reload on ammunition
"Well- I doubt Umbrella actually cares too much, in fact knowing them it's probably just one giant fucked up experiment" Jill was right, they'd both seen how many shits Umbrella gave about its staff.
They keep going up the stairs, although there was a very intriguing set of hangar doors that were sealed due to the lockdown, but it made more sense to go up first,
As they reached the above walkway a female Zombie in a lab coat burst through a door, it looked like the female Zombie had been a doctor in its previous life.
Jill and Black Widow make quick work of the Zombie before searching the room that it had charged out of
"Looks promising" Jill whispered as Natasha went about searching the cold storage-
"Ah- the Antigen Sample, we'll definitely need this for the vaccine" Natasha stated as she fastened the sample into one of her pockets
"You have a lot of pockets" Jill remarked, it seemed like the Avenger had an endless collection of compartments on her uniform.
Natasha shrugged, she liked having lots of pockets, it meant more places to hide things 'Mainly weapons'.
They make their way back down the stairs to the locked hangar door where Jill put her Override key into the slot only for nothing to happen
"Not enough power" Jill stated as her attempts to unlock the doors failed, the power supply couldn't be far away.
As it turned out it was hidden behind some large shelving units,
"This must be what powers it" the supply was made up of four power inputs, three were lit up the last needed forcing back in.
Jill was so concentrated on getting the power restored to the door that she hadn't noticed that Black Widow had found some very interesting documentation.
For some reason the Umbrella document intrigued her even before she'd read it, the document turned out to be a shipping notice.

CARGO: NEMESIS.

The Cargo had travelled from the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris on the 1st of September and from there it had travelled to JFK Airport in New York and from there it was to be transported to Raccoon City Airport.

SHIPPING TYPE: CLASS 1 HAZARDOUS Materials.

The Name at the bottom of the transcript was a Dr. Herman, Frank – Lead Developer.
A Lead Developer of what though? Jill looked over Natasha's shoulder to look at what she was reading
"What you got there?" Jill asked as Natasha read the Notes on the transport of this 'Project: NEMESIS':

All transit within the United States is to be made via helicopter. Take extreme care during take off and landing, as shock to the parcel may lead to self-activation.

Natasha had a bad feeling about this, the rest of the note consisted of this Dr Herman bragging at the numerous tests the 'specimen' had been through,
The words 'Incredible destructive power' stood out to her, it sounded like he was describing the Hulk-and then it struck her
"Oh!" she exclaimed, this shipping document was an important piece of the puzzle, but she basically got the picture already
"What's NEMESIS?" Jill asked as Black Widow removed the documents from its file and secured them in one of her many pockets
"I don't think it's good" Black Widow didn't want to jump to the conclusion, but she knew that she was right, that monster- the B.O.W that had been hunting Jill relentlessly and causing so much death and destruction, it was called the 'Nemesis'.
Jill had become accustomed to Natasha's thinking face, she found it best to not interrupt her thought process when she had that dark concentrated expression on her face.
Jill placed the Override key back in the slot to open the hangar doors which now had enough power to open, Jill gasped when she saw what was contained inside
"Well you can tick 'Evil Lab' off your bingo list" Natasha stated as she pulled out her smartphone 'super jacked thanks to Tony Stark' and started taking pictures of the area
"These are Tyrants- Jesus! Is this where they're made?" Jill asked as the visuals of the monsters took her back to the Umbrella Facility in the Arklay mountains and to- Wesker.
From what Natasha could tell they were all contained in their pods in some sort of hibernation state
"If all these things come to life and we have to fight them all, I'm gonna be super pissed" Jill remarked as she stared at the creatures in the pods carefully, looking for any indication that they may be waking up
'This must be the heart of Umbrella's operations' Jill thought to herself, according to the map of the facility she had found this place was referred to as 'NEST 2' she wondered where 'NEST 1' was in the City.
Natasha put away her smartphone, all of what she'd collected made for great evidence, she would get Banner or Stark to look at the photos.
However, from what she could tell not all of the Tyrants or Hunters were fully developed and some of them showed signs of deformities and would hardly be considered combat suitable,
Natasha wondered how they destroyed the B.O.W's that were considered defective.

They exit through another set of hangar doors at the other end of the room where they find another staircase that led up to a walkway that circled the Tyrant lab, the other sample they needed for the vaccine had to be here somewhere.
They follow the metal walkway round to the left where more Zombies blocked their path
"Outta the way!" Jill yelled as she fired an explosive from her grenade launcher obliterating the group of Zombies before Natasha could even react,
In the lab Natasha immediately spots the cold storage 'Please be here' she thought to herself as she checked the labels until she finds a vial labelled 'Type-T Adjuvant Sample' she immediately pocketed the sample
"Adjuvant samples are combined with Antigen Samples to create an autoimmune response" Natasha explained to Jill who was intently reading something she come across in the lab
"Natasha- I think you're gonna want to see this"

Authors Note: I wrote two Variants of this chapter- the other being where Tyrell lives, the only reason I went with Tyrell dying in NEST 2 is because I couldn't find anything that Tyrell living would add to the rest of the story. I'm still tempted to change it to the Tyrell lives scenario.
