"So, that's how Cody got his scar?"

Outside the curtain-drawn window of the cozy city flat, the sprawling metropolis of Coruscant came alive in a mesmerizing display of light and mid-night movement. The murky sky was illuminated by a myriad of neon hues, casting an artificial overshadow over the towering, silver skyscrapers that reached towards the invisible stars. Dwelling in their space, cocooned and hidden amongst the layout of the urban utopia, a deep breath of peace enveloped them.

Dakota, having made it her intention to forget about the rest of the world beyond the window, laid comfortable in the sheets, the rays of outside city lights outside casting a warm ambiance in their room. Rex's laughter bubbled up from deep within him, coating her in a way that no blanket ever could.

"I'm telling you, that's what happened" he began, his eyes sparkling with amusement as he recalled the memory. His fingers were interwoven into her ruffled hair as she rested lazily on his bare chest. The heat from his skin sank into hers, making them one in that moment.

Dakota chuckled. "I could've sworn he was better than that. I mean, Gundarks aren't that difficult to outmaneuver." she replied, a playful grin pulling up the corner of her lip. Her eyes remained closed and her mind balanced between peace and sleep, savoring the feel of his fingertips rubbing through her hair.

"To be fair, we don't exactly train to take down beasts while on Kamino" Rex pointed out, and she shrugged casually, accepting that he was more than likely correct on that.

"Neither do we, but nine times out of ten, a wild animal will present itself in an already sticky situation. Remember the Zillo Beast when it interrupted our business with the Dugs on Malastare?" she propped herself up on her elbow, wanting to see him. To soak in his features. Did trace her gaze over the chiseled curves and ridges of his face.

"How could I forget?" he asked back, tucking loose strands of her hair behind her ear. She leaned into the touch of his hand. "And the Chancellor had the bright idea of bringing that thing back here?" Dry sarcasm was ever present in his tone.

"He's just full of ideas" she rolled her eyes with a click of her tongue fue, face sullen. He smiled at that "I wouldn't consider them to be particularly bright by any means, off the record"

"Speaking of bright ideas, I meant to ask earlier." he rubbed her arm "How and when did you acquire a flat in the city?" Rex asked, referencing to the space that encompassed them "I was under the impression that Jedi could only take residence at the temple"

She nodded "You're right. This is Satine's flat for when she makes her visits to Coruscant, which isn't too often"

"She's kind to allow you to stay here"

"Yeah..."

"She.. doesn't know, does she?"

"No"
