The Rookie - Parent Trap

24 years ago, a young couple met on a cruise ship. They fell in love, they fell fast. After the cruise they lived on the gentleman's farm. A few months in, they got pregnant and then gave born to twin girls. Life was going well, but then the man couldn't handle the woman sacrificing things for him, so one day they decided to split. Each taking one girl as their own and never mentioning to the girls that they have a sister somewhere else.

12 years go by, and both girls don't even know anything. They have started asking about their other parent but never get a straight answer.

The girls grow up without knowing anything, both of their parents were grateful as it would be hard to explain the whole secret.

Present time:

Now the girls are both 24 years old.

Angela Lopez is a Training Officer at Mid Wilshire along side the other training officers Tim Bradford and Nyla Harper. The three of them are all best of friends, they are known to compete to see who can scare their rookie off the job. Their lastest rookies are John Nolan and Jackson, and often times two of the TO's ride with one rookie.

Lucy Chen is a detective over at the Hollywood division. She is the youngest detective in the station, most people find it weird. She had no friends at the station and was constantly having her ability to do the job questioned. She met Tamara a while ago and they are like sisters, she also has a 7 year old daughter from when she got raped.

An opening came up at the Mid Wilshire station, Wade Grey was looking through all the possible detectives they could have fill the spot as they didn't want to have someone take the test. There was one name that stood out above the rest ...

Grey immediately texted the detective.

Grey: Hi Detective, this is Sergeant Grey from Mid Wilshire. We have an opening for a detective, would you like to take the offer?

Detective: Yes of course, thanks you so much. When do you want me to start?

Grey: Monday will work.

The weekend goes by quick, there was some big changes in Lucy's life.

Monday the new detective walks to the front desks and asks for Grey. He walks out and welcomes her, they walk to his office.

Grey: "Thank you detective Chen for accepting the offer, your work is highly commended."

Lucy: "Thanks sir, but i know how this will already go."

Grey: "What do you mean?"

Lucy: "That at first you'll think that, but than people will judge and question my work because of my age. Then there is my personal life that people cannot find out about then I'll be all alone, then will receive another offer then end up transferring again."

Grey: "Wow, I'm so sorry. How was your last station like?"

Lucy: "I was the youngest detective in the station, most people find it weird. I had no friends at the station and was constantly having my ability to do the job questioned."

Grey: "That sucks. I never want you to feel like that here, I find it incredible that you are better than detectives that are double your age. Your work speaks for itself, taking down an entire criminal circuit. I'm honoured to have you here at the station."

Lucy: "Ok, there's one more thing. I never tell anyone this but I feel this is safe with you. I have amazing friend that lives with me who is like my sister and I also have a seven year old daughter who conceived from me getting raped."

Grey: "Again that sucks. Your secret is safe with me. I would love to meet them one day. I know that you're a detective but why don't you go one patrol today with me?"

Lucy: "That sound like fun, I love it."

Grey: "Ok roll call is in 5, but you can come in when I tell everyone that we have a new detective." Lucy nods.

Roll call starts and everyone sits down.

Grey: "Ok, night shift has done their jobs. Also as you know we have an open detective spot. We have found a detective to fill the position. This detective had broken a record and they are highly commended. All the way from Hollywood division, please welcome detective Chen." Lucy walks in and gets mixed reactions. Lucy sits at the back of the room.

Grey: "Ok, I would like you all to make her feel welcome and help her out. She will go in out on patrol with me today. Now you're all dismissed." Lucy walks up to Grey, the rookies went to load the shops and the TO's walked out talking.

Tim: "Isn't she the youngest detective the department has seen?"

Nyla: "Yeah but her work is incredible, she is the best that they have."

Angela: "I don't care, she must of paid her way through to detective. I don't like her at all."

Nyla: "Angela calm down. Let's go on patrol."

Everyone went on patrol. They all had calls, Grey was impressed with Lucy's work. At lunch, everyone sat down while Lucy went to make a phone call.

Angela: "Clearly she thinks she is too good for us."

Nyla: "She is just making a phone call."

John: "Am I the only one that thinks the detective looks a bit like officer Lopez."

Angela: "I'm not seeing it."

Jackson: "He is kinda right."

With Lucy, she quickly dialled a phone number.

Tamara: "Luce what's up?"

Lucy: "Was this a good idea? I mean the watch commander is amazing but I still don't know. What if they find me? You know that I could lose everything."

Tamara: "Hey, it's going to be okay. Give it a chance, I can look after Becca while you're at work. Besides we have the best security system ever."

Lucy: "Ok, thank you Tam. I needed that." She hang up, got take out and sat away from the others because that's what happened at her old station."

Grey: "Guys, I need you to give her a chance. She is a highly recommended and everyone is always after her."

Everyone: "Yes sir."

Angela: "I'm not going to give her a chance. As I said she probably brought her way to detective."

Grey: "Lopez! She didn't, you have no idea how hard she had to work to get to where she is, so do not speak like that."
