The witch girl

Her smile

I stood up and handed the teacher my work.
"Good job Ellis" She said. I looked at my schedule to find my class number. I hadn't yet memorized them all but I had a good few down. Next was science, I quite liked science actually. I liked a lot of subjects though.
I walked to my seat and sat down. It was in the middle of the rows. Seven rows each containing five desks. I sat in the fourth row in the third seat. I did for most of my classes. I liked to be in the middle. The direct middle.
My mom said I was weird for it.
I saw Kijo enter and go to the last seat in my row.
I wonder if she recognized me.
Would I have recognized me?
Probably not. I looked up at the teacher.
"Get in groups of two or more for this next project" She said smiling.
I watched everyone stand up and walk to their friends.
Should I ask her?
I should ask her.
I stood up and walked to Kijo. Her head was on her desk and her hood was up.
I rested my hand on the corner of the desk.
"Wanna be partners?" I asked. She looked up quickly.
"W-what?"
"I asked if you wanted to be partners for the project"
"Really?! Sure!" She smiled. Her smile was gorgeous and her words were soft. She didn't smile often from what I could tell, but it certainly lights up a room when she does.
Am I falling for this girl? I don't really mind if I am. I could feel eyes on us as we walked to the teacher's desk.
The teacher looked surprised.
"So Ellis you're partnered with.." she stared at Kijo for a couple of seconds before continuing her sentence ". . .Kijo" she said in an unsure voice. She gave a little smile. Did she really forget her name? Seriously?! Kijo looked like this was normal. We grabbed our materials and went to her desk. The project was supposed to take a few weeks so that just meant I had lots of time to get to know her. As we talked about what we should do for the project I kept staring at the smile on her face. Why do people not like her? She is sweet and smart, funny too.
