I stared at the clock. Any second now the class would be over and I could go to science. It was my favorite class. As soon as the bell rang I jumped up and was practically running out of there. I walked to my usual seat; the Middle row in the very back. I noticed the boy from homeroom. I pulled my hood up. The classroom was bright.
"Get in groups of two or more for this next project," The teacher said smiling.
Group work? Seriously? We are going to have one of our first big projects be group work? The only good thing was that I was usually alone anyway. I put my head against the desk. I wasn't trying to hide, no one would choose me anyway. I am the witch girl after all. It was just bright in the classroom.
"Wanna be partners?" A familiar voice spoke. I looked up. Partners? Me? Seriously?
"W-what?"
"I asked if you wanted to be partners for the project!" He spoke again. I suppose I was wrong about the pink-striped boy. He knows who I am. He hears the whispers that aren't really whispers. He can see the looks the others give me. The papers they throw at me.
"Really?! Sure!" I answered. I admit I smiled. It was the first time in a long time honestly. I could feel eyes on me as I walked to the teacher's desk. I could hear the whispers. All normal things.
*'The witch girl? He wanted to work with her?'*
I couldn't believe it either Stacy trust me.
The teacher looked surprised. That was a new one.
"So Ellis you're partnered with.." she stared at me for a couple of seconds. She couldn't ever remember my name. Everyone just said witch girl anyways. "..Kijo" Managed out giving a little smile.
Mm.
We grabbed the materials and walked back to my desk.
We spoke about what we should do for it.
I think that's the longest conversation I had in a while honestly.
It was a good one too.
Sure it was just work but his voice was nice. He didn't sound snobby or annoyed. He cared for the conversation and listened to what I said but also gave his own input.
I guess I can check using me to do work off the list of reasons why he would ever talk to me.
