Damon's POV

I watched as her body had fallen to the ground, limp. I tilted my head as I got close up to her, putting the hair out of her face. Maybe it is her? I am too self-aware and stubborn to let this slide, the timing? Too coincidental, I didn't want this to be some ploy to have my humanity back on and to just have her ripped away from me again.

"I mean, I have to check, brother," I said solemnly as I could feel his eyes burning into the back of my head. I couldn't take my eyes off her face, it was too accurate, every dream I had seen couldn't match the beauty that was in front of me. This wasn't going to win any brownie points but it's what I will have to do to prove it's her.

I picked her up bridal style as the other two were very on edge as they watched me. I looked around, held her close to me, and sped off out the door- I don't think I've started my car and driven off as quickly in my life, something told me that Stefan was holding that girl back to let this happen- I chuckled to myself thinking about how he would probably be feeling very hero-like right now.

I didn't have to drive for so long as I had the directions carved into my memory, knowing which turn to take whenever it came. I recognised the rubble in front of me as I sat and waited for her to open her eyes, please open your eyes Y/n.

I could feel the switch flickering but I didn't want it on until I was sure. Even then, what if someone comes to put a stake in her heart? What if she gets found by the council? I would rip the heads from all of them if they hurt her. I need to focus, this is new- this is what I was prepared for with the tomb. I heard some movement next to me, leaving my neck to snap in her direction as I saw her eyes flutter gently. Even in death she was beautiful.

Y/n POV

I could smell the trees and nature around me, as my eyes flickered open, the bright light around engulfed me- forcing me to squint. I looked around and my eyes once again landed on his- and as his hand came towards me, my hand snapped up stopping it in place.

"I'm sorry, but I really can't have my neck snapped again... It does kind of hurt, you know?" I said, rubbing the back of my neck with my free hand while feeling the tension slowly ease away. Rolling my neck a couple of times finished the trick so I could have my attention back onto the man of my dreams who has a tendency to recently have his hands on my neck and not in the way I would have liked. I suppose this is better than him being dead.

"I missed you,"

"I thought you were dead," I replied.

"I thought YOU were dead! I will believe it when you prove it to me," He came right back at me. I furrowed my brows. How am I supposed to prove that I am... me?

A/n this is a short chapter I know but I just want to give this a chance xD

I hope this is good, any ideas for how she could prove she's real? I would love to incorporate your ideas into this story
