In The Kitchen

It was a miracle that Loona somehow hadn't found a way to burn down the entire house yet.

From the very beginning of her relationship with Max, it had become a bit of a running joke between the two of them that while Max was a very skilled cook and loved to make elaborate meals for the two of them, Loona was horribly inexperienced in cooking and was a danger to herself and everyone in a 50-yard radius anytime she stepped foot in a kitchen.

Thus, Max did all of the cooking in their relationship, and, as of recently, their marriage.

But today, that was going to change.

Because Max invited Loona to help him prepare dinner for the two of them.

As Max was preparing part of the dish, he assigned Loona the task of cutting up vegetables for their dinner.

Currently, Loona was trying her best to cut up a carrot into semi-equal pieces.

Max approached his wife from behind and took a glance at her work. Not only was the carrot being cut in an... unorthodox manner, but Loona's cutting movements with the knife were random, all over the place, and possibly very dangerous. She had already almost cut off her hand at least four times.

Max chuckled and kissed Loona on the back of the neck. "Careful, love. We can't afford a trip to the Emergency Room tonight."

Loona blushed. Had any other demon teased her like this, she would have torn out their eyeballs by now. But this was her husband, and she knew that his teasing was one of his many ways of telling her "I love you".

"Here. Let me guide you," Max whispered. He held her from behind and placed a hand over her hand that held the knife.

"Like this," Max said as he guided her hand in a safe cutting motion.

But Loona wasn't paying attention to how to safely cut the carrot. All she could focus on was the warmth of her husband's body pressed against her own and the way he gently held her hand.

Max smirked, seeing that his wife was distracted. "Loona, are you paying attention to me?"

Loona's blush deepened. "Yes!"

Max laughed, "Alright, show me."

Concentrating, Loona cut up the rest of the carrot. The slices were better than the ones before.

Max smiled warmly. "Good job."

Loona turned around to face her husband and smirked. "Maybe this cooking thing is a lot better than I realized."

Max laughed again. "Glad to hear that."

Max then leaned in and kissed Loona on her lips. Loona's heart melted as she kissed him back.

"I love you, Max." Loona whispered.

Max smiled at her. "I love you, too Loona."

One year later.

This sweet memory of that one perfect night from a year ago is what Loona thinks of when she walks into the dark kitchen. The digital clock on the wall reads 11:42 PM.
