02. But why?

We all finish our breakfast in time, which, yes, is rare, with minimal oatmeal on the floor or the table. The kids really enjoyed the breakfast, and I'm happy about that. Aurora is a very picky eater, and sometimes it is hard to get her to eat some healthy stuff. But we did it today! so I'm proud of her.

Travis goes and helps the older kids brush their teeth and get the last things ready, and I go brush Kenzie's teeth, which is not a lot since she doesn't use them so much, but I always make sure they are clean, and she is probably getting some dental checkups today too. If they're not 100% clean, it's not Kenzie who's going to have to listen about proper hygiene; it's me, so I prefer to make sure they are all clean.

I'm already in the bathroom brushing my teeth while I make silly faces at my daughter, who is sitting in front of me "You like to see mommy's silly faces, don't you?" She loves when people are being silly in front of her. I finish brushing my own teeth and then brush hers. With this little brush and this special cream that tastes like banana, she just sits in my lap while I'm doing the rest of the job.

A couple minutes later, we're all downstairs at our garage, making sure we have all the kids and no one is left behind. I'm putting Kenzie in her car seat and waiting for Trav, who came back inside to grab my phone that I left on the couch, when suddenly I hear Aurora yell "NO! STOP ELLIE, YOUR BEING MEAN NO!" and then she starts to cry and throw herself on the floor. Really, I'm not in the mood today for all of this; I just want to go back to bed and cuddle with Trav. No exams and no attitude problems. I see my husband coming back with my phone in his hand, and he is clearly angry; I can see it on his face. He grabs Aurora's arm, and with a firm voice, he stars "We don't yell at this house, Aurora Kelce, and you're not allowed to call your sister things like mean, do you understand me? Am I being clear to you?" I can hear in his voice that he is just as tired as me. I'm not blaming him because this is a stressful day, but we need to understand that this is stressful for the kids too. Aurora doesn't answer him, which is not a surprise since she's afraid now, so I just go and whisper at Travis ears, "Go get some air, get your nerves down. I know you're stressed; I am too, but you can't talk with her like this or she'll be more afraid" The kids can feel that we are not in the mood to go to the doctor's office, but we are the adults here, so we are the ones that need to control our emotions and take the lead. I bend down to where Aurora is crying while Travis goes to start the car and puts Ellie in her seat. "Do you want to tell me what happened? I'm giving you the chance to explain yourself because what you did is not okay" I know that this was a bad reaction of hers, but something happened, so I'm trying to get to the bottom of it. She scrunched her nose and dry the tears with the back of her hand "Ellie said that the doctor is going to stick a finger in my but! This is not true, she's a liar and a menie" Aurora explains with an angry voice. Oh, here we go—the ass talk again. Ellie is not wrong, but I didn't intend on having Aurora find out this way. "How about we all go to the car and we can clarify this, Hm? but you still owe Ellie an apology" I understand why she reacted like this, but it is not appropriate to call her sister names etheir, so it's best if we talk in the car with everybody, including Ellie.

I put Aurora in her seat and then let security know that we were going out; they just followed us in a different car. Since the clinic is private and in a very particular space, I don't see the need to have them around over there. Travis starts to drive towards the place, and then I start the mediation of the discussion between the sisters "Okay, Eliana, Aurora said that you told her something, what did you say?" I'm actually afraid of what path this is going to take, but hey, I'm a mom, I can do it. "I told her about that thing we talked yesterday, about how the doctor is going to do a rectal exam on us" Ellie says, immediately distracting herself with the view in the window. Ellie asked me so many things yesterday night, she just has a lot of questions and is not afraid or ashamed of asking them. But Aurora is more sensitive and really stubborn when it comes to doctor things, so we need to explain her in other terms, she's 3 years old, so I don't blame her, I would be the same way if I were 3 and someone told me I'm going to have a finger shoved up in my ass, actually, I'm 34, and I don't want to do this etheir. "Ellie told me that rectal means that someone is going to put a finger in your butt, that's the same place that the poop comes from, that's yucky mommy, you can't put your finger there, you told me that!" Aurora says calmer than she was before. Yeah, we had that conversation a few months ago when i cauthg her putting her finger inside her bottom, and I had to have this conversation with her about how that's not hygienic and that there are some places in our body where we cannot put our finger inside. "I know that is the same place where the poop comes from, but that's exactly the reason why the doctor put its finger there, just to see if everything is ok, and I know I told you can't put your finger there, but the doctor knows how to do this, it's their job, and they use gloves, so it's not yucky" Aurora seemed satisfied with my answer, and I'm happy about that because I want the ass subject to die.
