First of all I want to say sorry because this thing is BIG, but I was thinking fast, and my hands we're in the same peace as my mind and then I blink and is 3500 words, sorry guys :)
We're all in the waiting room, distracting ourselves until the doctor can have us. I'm sitting in an armchair with baby Kenzie sleeping in my arms, and Ellie is on my side, swinging her legs and murmuring some frozen song. Aurora and Travis are playing with some puzzles on a kids table in front of the TV. My husband is just a big kid who loves to play and watch cartoons, and he loves to use the excuse "I'm here because of my kids" when really he's having the time of his life in a trampoline park or something like that. Sometimes I like to say that I have four kids, and Trav is the hardest one to deal with because he likes to tease with the other three, and at the end, I'm the only adult left in the house to take care of the mess. When we all go to my mom's house for some occasional Sunday lunch, Travsi normally goes with Austin and the kids to the backyard while I stay with my mom, and I always mention to her about how good it is to be around an adult sometimes.
Suddenly I'm taken out of my thoughts when I hear Ellie say "Gonorrhea symptonms...fever and sore throat, itching around the vaginal, abdominal or pelvic pain, vaginal discharge or bleeding, painful urination or intercourse.....Mommy what's gonorrhea?" Okay, I wasn't prepared for that. Where did that come from?? Normally, when Ellie says something suddenly, it's because she read somewhere "Where did you read that, sweetie?" I just want to know where that came from, and I really don't know if I'm capable of answering all of the questions that I know are going to come "In that poster over there" she says, and points to a poster next to a laboratory.

All of those awkward sexual educational classes are going to be used right now. "Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease that people get when they have unprotected sex. Remember when we talked about sex and how we need to use these special gloves so we can be safe about it?" We had that conversation a couple months ago when she was reading this book about science and anatomy and she asked where the baibes came from (they have this conversation when Ellie is 9 and then 12 in the peace books, but we're just gonna pretend that she was 6) "Yes, I remember" she answers me, and I continue "So, when you don't use the special glove, then you get this type of disease, and as you can read, they are not so fun" SDTs are no joke, they can really make your life miserable. I never had one, but some of my friends in high school got them, they told me how bad it was and how their parents were super mad at them. I swear that if one of my kids ever makes the stupid decision of having sex without a condom, I'm going to call the bad Taylor to talk with them "Did you ever get gonorrhea, mom?" she asks me "No Ellie, mommy is very safe about this type of thing, and I expect you to be too when you start doing those grown-up things" When the kids are ready and in the right age, Travis and I are going to have lots of conversations about safe sex, but right now we have bigger problems. Make sure Aurora eats food and not play-doh "I'm NEVER doing sex without protection, I don't want an itching around the vaginal, abdominal or pelvic pain" Ellie says, and I just hope that she remembers this when she's older "I hope you don't get it either, sweetie, I don't want that for you too" I can't imagine having a kid with an SDT, I would probably go crazy.
