04. Are you serious Travis?!

I get to the waiting room, and Ellie runs over to her dad so she can show him the lots of candy that she has now. Travis is sitting on a couch, watching Kezie play on the floor with Aurora. We exchange looks, and then I blow up a kiss for him. He pretends to get it in his hands, putting it close to his heart. I love this man so much. Aurora sees me and comes running over "Mommy, Mommy, can I go now? Dad said that if I go first, he'll get me ice cream tomorrow. Can I go with Julia first?" She says it super fast while she's jumping up and down. I can't believe Travis is bribing our daughters, so he doesn't have to do it first. This is such childish behavior "Are you serious Traivs?" He just looks at me and makes his innocent face (🤷‍♂️) "She wants ice cream, so I might just give it to her" Travis says, and I only shake my head in disapproval "Momm, can we go in now? I want candy just like Ellieee" Aurora says and puling my pants down "Yes sweet heart, we can go in. But are you going to be a big girl and be good for Julia? Because Ellie got her candy because she was very well behaved" I talk with her while we make our way inside de Julia's room again "I promise I'm going to be the bestest ever" She says, and I laugh. I hope that she stays in this mood until the end of the appointment.

We enter the clinic, and I can see that Julia is not in the room anymore. She probably went out to do something, but the curious thing is that I didn't see her leaving—weird, but okay. I got Aurora on top of the bed because this thing is high and the girls cannot reach it. Then we played with our fingers so I could try to distract her "Mommy, where's the dolctor?" Aurora asks me, and I put her hair behind her ear "I don't know, sweetie, she probably went out, but she'll be back soon, I believe".

As soon as I finish talking with the little me, Julia enters the room through a door that I didn't even know was there. It was near the sink, and the green wall just opened, and she entered the room "Julia, you're magic YOU'RE MAGIC" Aurora says, clapping her hands and smiling "Oh! I wish I was magic, Aurora, that would be fun, wouldn't it? But this one is just a door to the laboratory, but it's a part of it where only doctors are allowed, so I use my special card to enter" Julia answers and shows her little card clipped to her pants "That is still suuuper cool" Aurora giggles, and Julia comes to her side with the same things that she used to check on Ellie's eyes, ears, and throat. "So I have some more suuuper cool things for you, these are my little friends, and they help me see if there is anything wrong with your eyes, ears, and throat. Can you help me and turn your head to that side?" Julia starts talking with my little one, and I can see that Aurora is enchanted by the whole narrative that Julia is creating. She nods her head and turns to the left and then to the right. While she does this, the doctor checks both her ears. I'm not kidding, Julia is super skilled; she does the exams without the kids even noticing. "Thank you, Aurora! Now, can you follow these lights with your eyes? You need to keep your head in place, move just your eyes. This is a big girl task, can you do it?" The doctor says, and you can see how much she knows Aurora, and she knows that the best way to get her to do what you want is with bets. Aurora proudly does, and I'm happy that the doctor's method worked because I'm not in the mood to hold her still "Okay, last one, open wide for me....Good. Now put your tongue out and say, Ahhhh" Julia says, and she does so, and we quickly get through this part.

The doctor goes back to the cabinets and gives me the look, and I get what she means "Honey, can you take your clothes off, please? Mommy can help you if you want" I know how to deal with her, you just need to give her some sense of independence, and she can choose to get it done herself or I can help her. In the end, she will reach the doctor's goal and be in her underwear. "I can do it alone! Watch" Aurora answers and starts to take off all the pieces of her outfit. This is the moment that coming in simple clothes come into hand. "You can stay with your panties Aurora, come here with mommy, Julia is going to see if you're bigger than the last time we're here" I'm trying to make her happier about this because we normally don't have a good experience with measurements because Aurora is premature and we're having a hard time with her height and weight, which is stressful not just for me and Trav but for her too, because she's trying to make us proud of her, like showing us she's eating a banana and like saying for us to be happy because she's going to grow.
