Chiron, Grover, and I entered the big house, "Sit Asher. Grover, would you be so kind as to get us something to drink." Grover nodded before going.
"Um sir. Chiron. Shouldn't we be at dinner soon?" I asked the centaur.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure you'll get some food after we're done with our discussion. And I'm sure Mr. D will have an ok time leading dinner while I'm not there," Chiron reassured me. Then there was a crackle from the fireplace, "Ah Lady Hestia, thank you for gracing us with your presence." I looked over and sure enough, there was that girl from the fire pit again.
But she wasn't a small child this time. She came in her familiar brown dress and scarf hiding her mousy brown hair. Her fire-red eyes stared back at me as we held our gazes. She looked to be in her late twenties instead of a nine year old. "Lady Hestia," I bowed.
"No need for that here child. Just Hestia is fine," she gave a small smile, "Chiron, it's good to see you as well." She walked over to the table where we sat and took a seat.
Grover walked in as well with three cups on a tray, "L-lady Hestia! Um it's and honor having you here." he bowed frantically causing the beanie on his hair to fall to the floor.
Hestia laughed, "Grover there is no need for such formalities. You took care of Asher and I'm thankful for your actions. Thank you for being a good friend to him." Her words cause my mind to stop. Why does she care about Grover being my friend? Does Hestia have some relation to me?
"Of course, milady!" Grover bowed again before coming over to give us our cups and sitting down in his seat.
"Now that we are all here, I believe there are some questions you might have, Asher." Chiron nodded to me.
My mouth started shooting questions rapidly, "Why can't I contact my dad? What does Iris mean when she can't find him? Is he dead? And why is Hestia here? Does she know what happened to him?"
Chiron put his hand up to stop me, "Asher, you won't be able to talk to your father. Not through Iris messaging anyways. You can still call him but I wouldn't do so."
"Yea I know, calling with a phone puts up a flare for monsters to find me. Grover told me already." I said
"Yes, that is true. But I'm saying that it's for his sake, not yours." said Chiron.
My eyebrows furrowed, "What do you mean? My dad is mortal, is he not? I thought that rule was only for half bloods."
"I can't explain anymore. I am bound by rules that won't allow me to. I believe Lady Hestia can explain more." Chiron pointed over to Hestia.
"Asher, I really am sorry but you will not be able to contact your father. Not for a long time. Now that you have come to camp, the gods will take notice. And I can't have you taken away." Hestia apologized.
"Why? Why not? Why can't I talk to him!? Why can't I even meet him! Because the gods told me to? Because Zeus said so? WHAT AREN'T YOU TELLING ME!" I cried as my emotions boiled over, "Why is it that I'm being told he can't be found! That he doesn't exist? Why is it that you all look at me like some lost dog all the time? You know something about me, about who I am," I stood up and pointed at Chiron, "I see the way you look at me. I saw how Mr. D saw something in me. You know who I am or who my dad is!" Every word I yelled out caused the fire in the fireplace to roar stronger.
"Asher..." Hestia slowly came over and put a hand on my shoulder. I felt that familiar feeling of home again in her touch. But then the anger rose from my stomach again as I ripped my shoulder away. Grover gasped.
"And you. What do you have to do with this? Why are you even here?" I spat at Hestia.
"Asher!" Chiron warned. But then Hestia raised her hand to stop him.
