"Emmy," I hear him yell out to me as I continue to walk out of his apartment complex

"Emmy," I hear him yell out to me as I continue to walk out of his apartment complex. "Emmy!" he repeats once I reach my door.

I stop in my tracks and I look over at him to see he's now fully clothed. It's pouring rain and he's still standing by the door, completely dry. He doesn't say anything which is just making me look like an idiot standing in the pouring rain.

Maybe I'll hear him out.

"What?" I yell, anger still filled in my voice as I lift my hand up to shield my eyes from the rain.

"Come inside," he tells me and I shake my head.

"I'm going home," I say and I watch him take a deep breath.

"I'm not letting you drive in the pouring rain," he yells as he starts walking closer to me. "And I'm not even allowed to let you drive home at night alone."

"I'll be fine," I mumble to myself as I unlock my door. I go to open my car door but before I can even fully open it, it slams shut.

"Get inside," he orders and I laugh.

"I would rather not," I scoff as I turn to look at him.

"Why?" he almost yells.

"Because-" I yell but cut myself off to lower my tone. "Because you told me that you went on a date with someone else. Because you told me that you actually liked her. Because we both said we weren't going to be with other people. Because you proceeded to make me feel uncomfortable by saying how different that girl was from me."

"Emmy-" he starts but I stop him.

"No, Nix, I get it. I'm just sex to you. What we have is purely just two friends who enjoy fucking each other," I say but he shakes his head.

"That's what you fucking wanted!" he yells.

"Well, I changed my fucking mind!!" I yell even louder.

Silence falls between us as he just stares at me in disbelief. I watch him scoff as he shakes his head and looks away from me.

"You are the most complicated person I've ever crossed paths with," he starts. "That girl was nice. She was attentive, and gentle, and actually made it apparent that she was into me-" he admits before it's now my turn to scoff and roll my eyes.

"Fuck this," I mumble as I reach for my car door but he grabs my wrist. I think about twisting his and kicking him in the balls but instead, I'm choosing peace and allowing him to finish.

"I never spoke to that girl after that date because when I came back here, all I could think about is how I wish I was with you instead," he spits. "How I wish I could've came home to you sitting on my couch watching that God awful show with cheap Chinese food and enjoyed your company instead of dealing with hers."

"Nix-" I breathe.

"Let me finish," he sighs. "I think about you all of the time, Emmy. I said she was different from you because you are not like anyone I have ever encountered. You are stubborn, and mean. And get under my skin more than anyone ever has."
