Chapter 6 (Day 1)

Maria's POV

Kendall was coming over soon and I had my hair in a messy bun. I had on black tank top and black shorts.

"Knock knock." Kendall said. I opened it and he was smiling from ear to ear.

"Guess what." He said.

"What?" I asked.

"We're going to the beach!"

"I've never been to the beach."

"Really?"

"Yup."

"Well, today's your lucky day." I went to my room and picked out a black and purple bikini. I took out my back pack and put some sun screen and a towel. I walked out and he was still smiling.

"Hey Maria, today won't go without a lesson you know." He said smirking now.

"What are you saying?" I asked.

"Today's exercise will be trust. I'm gonna piggy back you all the way to the beach."

"No way! You'll drop me."

"That's why it's called a TRUST exercise." I sighed and climbed onto his back. He grunted and took off running.

"Woo hoo!" I screamed.

"All the windows down." He sang. I laughed and tightly gripped onto his shirt. In about 10 minuets we were at the beach and there were the guys. They were all on the sand talking.

"Hey guys." Said Kendall.

"Hey Kendall!" They replied.

"Guys as you probably know this is Maria. Maria this is James, Logan, and Carlos." I smiled shyly. They all said a quiet 'hi.'

"Well, what are we waiting for? It's high tide time we get of shore!" said Kendall quoting Spongebob. We all cheered and dived in. Our day consisted of talking and splashing. I was splashing the guys when someone was picking me up.

"Who is that?" I asked.

"Kendall." Kendall said.

"Oh, ok." James got Carlos on his shoulder and we were fighting. Carlos was strong alright but the guy was way too ticklish. After tickling him he went down splash in the water but not before taking me down with him. I got up and we were laughing. The guys and I got out of the water. Kendall and I sat on our towels while the guys were going to KFC. The sky was an light orange color. Kendall took my hand in his and looked at me.

"I'm glad I met you Maria. Before my life sucked. My girlfriend left for New Zealand for a movie job and left me heart broken. I guess all I needed was an awesome lady friend." He said.

"Kendall I'm sorry but she didn't deserve you. Any girl who would pick a stupid movie job over you is brain dead. I would never leave you. Your my best friend." I whispered to him. He pulled me in for a hug and I kissed his cheek. They tinted a pinkish color. He looked over at me he was leaning in closer and closer to my face.

"Um...Kendall...no." I said. He stopped and stood up

"Oh I'm sorry Maria I just got caught up in the moment." He said and started walking. I got up to and sat in a rock away from him.

"We got chicken!!!!!!!!!" Carlos sang.

"Ok what's going on here?" James said referring to the tension.

"Nothing." I said softly. Kendall got up quietly and walked down the road. I watched him walk away my wet hair sticking to my face. I got in the car and Logan asked me

"What was that all about?"

"James drive the car." I said to James. The car ride was silent. When we got to the Palmwoods everyone was out of the car except for me and James. As I was getting out he grabbed my hand.

"I have a confession to make. I was afraid of you when you first came at the Palmwoods but seeing you open up like that today. I think I love you." He said. His face was getting closer and closer to mine.

"James stop." He brushed the hair out of my face and kissed me.

"So this is why you couldn't kiss me." Someone said from behind. I turned around and there was Kendall.

"Kendall it's not what it looks like." I tried to explain.

"Maria you could've told me you had a crush in James I wouldn't have mind." He walked off into the Palmwoods.

"Look what you did!" I screamed at James. I slammed the door shut and ran up to their apartment. I started frantically knocking. Carlos opened the door. I ran in, pushing him past and ran to Kendall's room. He was looking out the window. He turned his head and his bright green eyes showed pain and sadness.

"Kendall listen to me. It didn't happen the way you think it did. James kissed me not the other way around. Please tell me you believe me. I can't lose my best friend." I sobbed.

"I believe you Maria. I do" Kendall said.

"Oh thank god" I ran into his chest and he wrapped his arms around me. Thank god I didn't lose my best friend.
