______________________________Bondita's POV
As I made my way to the study room to fetch a book for my college project, I unintentionally overheard Patibabu speaking on the telephone. His voice was unusually tender, filled with affectionate nicknames and sweet words.
"If you speak this sweetly, Mishita, how will I not love you my Kushi?" His words echoed in my mind, stirring up an unexpected sense of jealousy within me.
As I stood there, still processing Patibabu 's conversation with whoever the girl was, he continued his conversation on the telephone with Mishita.
"...and when you come to visit next time, I promise to take you to the park, just like we used to my cute Kushi," Patibabu said with a tender smile in his voice.
Patibabu's expression faltered for a moment as he sensed my gaze. "Mishita, I have to go now, but I'll talk to you soon, okay? Love you, sweetheart."
As Patibabu finished his call with Mishita, our eyes locked, and I couldn't hide the glare that escaped me. Without a word, I turned on my heel, determined to retrieve the book I needed from the study, not wanting to start an argument over my irrational jealousy.
Patibabu, oblivious to my inner turmoil, followed me with his gaze before turning his attention back to his work. "Bondita, what brings you to the study all of a sudden?"
I stopped in my tracks, my frustration bubbling to the surface. "Oh, just thought I'd come get a book, Patibabu. Is that such a crime?"
My tone dripped with sarcasm, and I immediately regretted my sharp words. But the lingering feeling of jealousy mixed with embarrassment left me on edge, unable to fully control my emotions.
Patibabu looked up, taken aback by my sudden change in demeanor. "I didn't mean to offend you, Bondita. I was just curious."
I clenched my fists, feeling my anger rise. "Oh, curious, were you? Well, congratulations, Patibabu! You've just unlocked the mystery of the century!"
Patibabu's brows furrowed in irritation. "Bondita, there's no need for sarcasm. I was simply asking a question."
Sensing Patibabu's irritation, I felt a wave of dejection wash over me. It hurt to see him frustrated, even over what seemed like a minor argument."Are you upset with me now, Patibabu?" I asked softly, unable to hide the hurt in my voice.
Patibabu's brows furrowed slightly, his irritation still evident. "I'm just tired of these unnecessary arguments, Bondita."His words stung, fueling the anger simmering within me. "Oh, so now I'm the cause of all our problems, am I?" I retorted, my voice laced with bitterness.
Patibabu sighed, his frustration apparent. "That's not what I meant, Bondita. I just wish we could discuss things calmly without it escalating."I crossed my arms, feeling defensive. "Well, maybe if you bothered to communicate with me properly, we wouldn't be having this argument in the first place!"
Patibabu's jaw clenched, his patience wearing thin. "I try to communicate, Bondita, but sometimes it feels like you're not willing to listen."
His words hit me like a slap in the face, and I felt a surge of hurt mingling with my anger. "Fine, Patibabu. Maybe I'm just not worth listening to."I muttered, my voice tinged with bitterness. "Only Mishita, whoever she is, gets to hear the sweet side of yours."
