AUTHOR'S POV
~Unexpected Contact ~
They were still eating. Anirudh couldn't help but notice a deeper hunger than usual, which he attributed to Bondita's recent cooking. They ate in silence the whole time.
Bondita, known for her playful nature even in moments of discord, teasingly offered Anirudh a bite of luchi. Just as he leaned forward to accept it, she withdrew her hand and ate it herself with a defiant smile. She repeated this gesture, a silent challenge lingering between them.
Determined to break the ice and perhaps win her over, Anirudh decided to play along. As Bondita again brought the food towards her mouth, he leaned forward decisively, anticipating her move. In the heat of their unspoken competition, their movements synchronized with a surprising intensity. Anirudh leaned so close that, in a moment of mutual surprise and desire to assert himself, their lips met.
THEIR LIPS MET !
Time seemed to pause as they both registered the unexpected contact. Anirudh's heart raced as he met Bondita's wide-eyed gaze.Anirudh froze, his lips pressed against Bondita's for a fleeting moment. Shocked, they both pulled back abruptly, eyes wide with realization of what just happened. Bondita's cheeks turned crimson, her heart racing at the unexpected closeness.
"I... I'm sorry, Bondita," Anirudh stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. His mind raced, unsure of how to interpret the mix of emotions swirling within him.
Bondita, still processing the sudden kiss, looked at him, Tears streamed down her face, escaping her awareness entirely. The hormonal fluctuations of her menstrual cycle had intensified her emotions to an overwhelming degree. Though she wasn't consciously weeping or sobbing, her body betrayed her inner turmoil, releasing tears she didn't even know she was shedding. It was as if her emotions had taken control, bypassing her conscious mind and expressing themselves through silent, unnoticed tears.
He was already taken aback by the sudden kiss, and now, seeing Bondita cry, he felt even more bewildered. Afraid and unsure of how to handle the situation, he stammered, "Bondita, I'm really sorry."
Her tears only intensified upon hearing his apology for kissing her. The mixture of anger and sadness she had been holding back since the previous night erupted uncontrollably.
Frustrated and at a loss for what to do, he gently wiped away her tears and pleaded, "I didn't mean to hurt you, Bondita. Please don't cry."
"I'm not crying ," she replied amidst her tears. "It was supposed to be special ," she whined, her emotions pouring out. "Or atleast complete," she said as if accusing him, releasing everything she had been bottling up inside.
Anirudh was beyond shocked; the word didn't do justice to the turmoil he felt inside. "Please don't cry," he pleaded, feeling utterly helpless. "I'm sorry, Bondita," he added softly, hoping to soothe her.
Bondita's demeanor shifted abruptly. Her tear-streaked face transformed into one of anger. She pointed an accusing finger at him with her left hand and said sharply, "Say anything but sorry." Her eyes still held tears, but now they also bore a fire of frustration and hurt.
Bondita continued, her voice trembling with emotion, "You should have at least completed the kiss to ask a sorry."
Anirudh felt utterly helpless, his gaze fixed blankly on her, waiting for her to calm down. It took at least two minutes for Bondita to collect herself. Finally, she managed to say, "I'm sorry."
Anirudh started softly, "Bondita—"
But she cut him off, her words rushing out, "You can consider this accidental, but I don't." She paused, sighed lightly, then added, "I'm just so emotional. Let's just finish dinner."
