Fall

There are those who fear change and there are those who embrace it. No matter what we feel though change is bound to happen whether we like it or not. The reason people fear it is because of the unpredictability of it all. We as people fear the unknown more often than not. Sometimes the changes in our lives are out of our control such as an inevitable death. It’s not something we can prevent, but will have to accept overtime as that’s just the way life is, unpredictable. That’s why we try so hard to find something that doesn’t change, so we can feel as if we’re in control. Whenever I think of something that stays consistent, I think about the seasons. Sure they change four times a year, but we know what to expect when each arrives.

Winter is expected to be cold and dark, spring is damp and sunny, summer is warm and dry, finally fall is cool and windy. It’s nice to know what to expect, but over time it can get boring.
That’s why I suppose fall would have to be my favorite season. In my overall opinion fall is the season of change. That’s mainly because when I first think of fall, I think of the leaves changing colors. They used to be so bright, yet now their color is dim. It may not seem as much as that just means the leaves are dying, yet it makes me think of how relatable the season of fall really is. It’s expected that the leaves will change color, but we don’t know the exact day that they will change color. That’s the same with people as we can seem fine, but then the next day we could end up with a deadly illness or worse.

That may be morbid, yet fall to me feels like the season of acceptance more than anything. That there is nothing we can do for the leaves as they’re out of our control, but we can walk through the forests appreciating them one last time, before winter comes.
