Chapter 7: The bat, the black and white cats
"It would be best if we all parted ways," Uncle J told the group, and most nodded in agreement. "Selina, take Frost home," Lex answered before turning to me.
"See ya, kid," he told me before pulling his phone out and walking away from the group. Harley and Ivy both hugged me goodbye before going after Joker. They all quickly left; the last was Junior. He handed me a small black box and a card before running after his dad.
"Ready?" Selina asked me as only the two of us were left. I nodded, and we started walking home. After a few turns, I was utterly lost. "You really need to learn how to find your way around," Selina told me as she walked ahead. "Why should I? Someone is probably going to give me. Cause I'm not allowed out or to be left alone."
"If you ever have to get away from someone, you can't rely on anyone else to help you." "But let's say, what if I lead them to Killer Crock?" I asked her with a smirk. "Then he would be grateful. Thank you for bringing him lunch. But I thought he'd like it if it was a hero." She told me, then stopped, and she ruffled my hair.
"You might want to put the wig back on or change back." She continued. "Why?" I asked her. She pointed up at some stairs. "Cause we're here." I climbed up first and noticed this was different from my home once I made it up.
"This isn't my home," I told her. "Yeah, it's mine." She answered before jumping up to one of the balconies of the building. "You coming?" she asked me. "I'm not supposed to use my powers in the open," I told her, and she giggled. "You just froze a hideout, and can't you just jump?"
"I'm not allowed and can't be found out." "Well, I'm 'supervising,' so jump." She told me I took a deep breath, walked a few steps back, and looked around for no witnesses.
I ran forward and jumped up. It was a six-story building, and I managed to jump four. Plus, I lost my wig in the process. "See wasn't that fun," Selina told me. She was now on the same floor as me. "Race ya to the top," I told her as I got on the balcony ledge and jumped up to the fifth and then the sixth.
"I win," I yelled as I got off the ledge. "Really?" Selina asked me as she opened the door to her apartment from the inside. My jaw dropped to the floor. "How?" I questioned, regaining my composure. "Don't worry, you'll get better. One day, you might be able to jump this entire building, maybe bigger." She told me as she let me inside.
Her apartment was messy, but her cats loved the condo. "So, about your gift," she said and entered another room. But she continued talking. "I didn't want to get you a gift that had been stolen. So when I found her, I knew she was the perfect gift for you." She left her room with a box and handed it to me. I opened it, and inside was a tiny kitten with fur as white as snow and big, bright yellow eyes.
"Meow?" The Cat questioned as she looked at me and moved her head to the side. "What's her name?" I asked Selina as I mimicked what the Cat was doing. "I thought about names after I found her. She put up a fight, which is why I named her 'Bastet' After the Egyptian goddesses." As Selina told me, and I ran my hand through 'Baskets' hair, she was extremely fluffy and soft.
"Hey, Bastet. I guess you're coming home with me." I told her as I took her out of the box. I side-hugged Selina as I held back with my right hand. "Ready to go home?" Selina asked me; I was about to answer when I heard someone land on the balcony. I pointed at the balcony door, and Selina signed me to hide. I quickly turned my hair back to normal and hid, but I could still see Selina as she opened the balcony door. It was Batsy.
