35: Encounter

One month. It took them one month of nonstop efforts to gather enough information on Kai to actually plan something. Zee and Lily went to the same school as Stray Kids to help them with this, though Han always found it amusing when Minho and Zee were in the same room. Chae was doing good at her school too, and they had babysitting duties to take care of her. Makato and Haruto helped them, though they only knew that Chae was Chan's cousin and she loved anything with spice. They knew everyone worked as deliverymen in the evenings; they weren't let in on their secrets.

They did meet the Shadows sometimes. Luna would appear out of thin air and escort them to the base to discuss something, mostly Chan or Seungmin. Han had spilled his coffee twice before she stopped approaching him. Felix had screamed once and she had left. So yeah, sticking mostly to Chan and Seungmin.

She also had to meet Haruto and Makato at one point when she came to meet Zee near the school. It had been awkward, to say the least, but they knew of her existence as 'that masked lady'. 

One evening, she approached Chan and asked him to gather everyone on Sunday in a cafe, but she had been an hour late. She hadn't addressed that matter and everyone ignored it. 

"Kai is mostly operating the Serpents," she had said, "and there's an abandoned factory building where they're staying for some reason. They'll leave in 4 days."

"A raid?" Han asked. She raised an eyebrow. 

"He means we can raid the factory and capture them," Minho elaborated. 

She didn't say anything for a while.

"I mean, it's a nice idea and I'm all about raiding," Mia said, "but do we know their numbers? Stats? Any other details?"

"That's the problem," Luna replied. "We don't."

Everyone was silent for a moment.

"Wait, where's my phone?" Minho frowned.

"Felix hid it in Chan's car," Han snitched on Felix and Felix gasped.

"I'll go get it," Han immediately got up and ran outside to escape Felix and the spork he was holding. Everyone saw him make a face from outside the window before running to the car parked a bit away from the cafe.

Suddenly, Luna got up. "Stay here," she said and ran outside.

"Will Han be back alive?" Hyunjin chuckled.

"It's something else," Zee whispered. They watched her cross the street and run towards an alley down the street near Chan's car.

"Until they're back, does anyone want something to eat," Minho said, getting up and approaching the counter.

"Leave him," Luna said.

Kai laughed and threw Han's limp body aside. He was barely conscious, groaning and shielding his head.

"Nice to meet you too," Kai smiled, "Luna. I like the name."

"What do you want?"

"What do I want?" He laughed. "What do I want? That's ironic, coming from my stalker."

"And?"

"And you already know the answer, don't you?"

"What I mean is," Luna ignored how Han was trying to get up, "why here? Why now?"
