"You're staring at her, Prince."

Jax turned to around to see who spoke, but there was really no point because he already knew who it was. The Evil Queen's little sister was looking right at the blonde boy, an amused smirk plastered on her face.

"Oh, shut up, Jocelyn. I wasn't." Yes he was. He couldn't help it, though. Gilly was sitting a few feet away from them, deep in some history textbook, her head slightly tilted and her brows scrunched together. Has she always been this beautiful? I've known this crew for the past four years, and I swear Gillian Cobbler gets prettier every day I see her.

It's Thursday, and the crew was in the library; it's the first week of the new school year and the teachers did not go easy on the homework load. Jax don't really mind it, being back at FTRS and all that stuff, especially since he was with his friends. He didn't see them for most of the summer, since his dad insisted the young prince go to a bunch of kingdoms with him so he could get a "look into what it was like to rule a kingdom."

As for the rest of the crew, they all spent the summer with their families and had adventures of their own. Gilly went with her family to some beaches and islands to spend her vacations with her mom's side of the family. Jax almost didn't recognize her when he saw her on the first day. Her skin was tanned, her cheeks sun kissed, her hair had some streaks of sunlight in it, and her freckles were much more noticeable. Jax swore he almost had himself a heart attack when she smiled at him.

"God, Jaxon, you are so in love with her, it's gross." Jocelyn pretended to gag, which was really funny considering she's probably the one who's wanted Gilly and Jax to get together.

"Leave him be, Jocelyn; we have to continue on with our own work," called Maxine. Jocelyn obliged, since Maxine was pretty much the only person Jocelyn didn't snap at, well, apart from AG.

All the kids all worked on their respective tasks for some more time, until AG's mom came and announced that the library would be closing up for the day. Everyone packed up our stuff and started to pile out of the library. Jax stayed behind and walked over to Gilly, who was still packing up.

"Come on, thief, Beauty's closing up," Jax smiled at her, watching as she took her sweet time grabbing her stuff. When she was finally done, they walked out together, side by side.

"Jax, do you want to come to my dorm for a while?" Gilly asked, having to look up given the fact that Jax was almost a foot taller than her. "I still have to unpack my bags, and Maxine's got to do some things and it's going to take too long if I'm alone."

Jax knew he probably should go unpack his own things before dinner, but he couldn't say no to her when she looked at him with those big brown eyes. "Ok, sure, but we've still got to go to dinner at 7." Thursday was pasta night, and Jax couldn't help but admit that it was actually pretty good. Plus, he could unpack after dinner.

"Yeah, I know." They two walked up to Gilly's room, and Jax couldn't help but stop dead in his tracks when he walked through the door. The room was a mess; clothes and other things scattered all over the place.

"Oh, it's a bit messy," said Gilly sheepishly.

"No shit," Jax said, a chuckle escaping his lips. He was trying his best to not step on any piece of clothing. "Did a tornado come through the window?" He was finally able to make it to Gilly's bed, putting down his bag on the floor and sitting on the edge.

"Very funny, Jaxon," she deadpanned. "This is what I meant when I said it was going to take a long time. Make yourself comfortable. This is going to take at least an hour."

Jax fully laid down on Gilly's bed, and they started talking about random subjects while she unpacked and cleaned up the room.

"So, thief, how was your summer?" Jax asked, throwing up and down a rubber ball he'd found lying around.

"Really fun," replied the girl, a giddy smile on her face. "The beaches were so pretty, and the food was so fucking good. Like, next level good."

Gilly continued rambling about her vacation while she finished putting things away, and Jax couldn't help but smile. He really liked her, he always had, and he knew Gilly liked him back. Just like Gilly knew he liked her. They figured it out a few months back, but decided to give it a few months before deciding what to do. Their situation wasn't simple: Jax is a prince who has had multiple girls lined up for him from the moment he was born, and Gilly was still largely disliked by a fair portion of the kingdom.

Jax was snapped back into reality when he sensed footsteps coming towards him. He looked up and saw that the room was all cleaned up, and Gilly was walking towards him. She sat on the edge of her bed and looked at him. "And how was your summer?" She asked, brow raised.

"It was fine, nothing big," replied Jax. He tried to sound nonchalant, but Gilly could see right through him.

"You're a really bad liar. You know that, right?," she told him, as she snatched the rubber ball away from him and put it on her desk.

"You look really pretty today, thief," Jax said simply, a lazy smile on his face. Gilly didn't react, though. She knew he was making excuses to not talk about his summer. "Come on, Jax. I told you about my summer; now you tell me about yours."

Jax let out an overdramatic sigh, and Gilly laughed as he pulled her down so that she would be lying down next to him. "Well, I spent the first two weeks here working with my dad. Then, for the rest of the summer, I went to a bunch of different kingdoms, where I also spent all my time working with my dad."

"That's it. Well, that doesn't sound much like a vacation," Gilly frowned. She knew how hard King Arnard was on Jax, but she at least expected him to give the poor boy a proper summer vacation.

"Yeah, tell me about it," Jax grumbled, reaching over to drape his arm around Gilly's torso and burying his face in her neck. "Next time you go on vacation, please take me with you. Or at least don't go for too long."

Gilly laughed and ran her fingers through his blonde locks. "Why did you miss me?"

"Yes, I did, Gillian. I even started to get withdrawal symptoms," Jax stated sarcastically, which only made Gilly laugh even harder. "I missed you too, Jax."

The two stayed there until they had to go down to dinner, just enjoying each other's presence. Their minds wandered through a web of thoughts that led them both to the same place.

I wish we could stay like this forever.
