Gilly POV:

Once Jax closed the door behind him, I took it as an opportunity to change into PJs myself.

I put on my shorts and one of Jax's 80s band shirts that was too big for my body. I'd stolen it a few months back when I came here unannounced after I'd had a big fight with my parents. It was just before we'd started secretly dating.

I was closing my bag when the bathroom door opened again and Jax came back out wearing some gray sweats and a soft black shirt.

Once his eyes found mine, he looked me up and down before a grin came into his face.

"Can I ask why you happen to be wearing one of my shirts?" He asked, slowly walking towards me.

I shrugged and hugged myself, "Because they're comfier than mine, and they look better on me."

We both stared at each other, trying not to laugh.

"Well, I certainly can't argue with logic." Jax shrugged before lunging at me, grabbing me in his arms, and throwing me onto his bed.

I laughed as he plopped down next to me, making me bounce.

He looks me in the eyes before giving me a sweet, short kiss. He pulls back and gives me a kiss on the forehead, which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

A few minutes after laying next to each other, Jax sits up, crisscrossing his legs, and I follow suit, facing him.

"So," Jax began, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear and smiling. "In how much trouble are you, sticky fingers?"

"Trouble? How'd you know I was in trouble?" I asked, shocked at what he'd just asked. Either someone personally told him about what happened at home, or he just knew me too well.

"Because you took longer than usual to get here; you're usually here in 20 minutes tops."

"Oh, ok...wow. Um, no, I'm not in trouble, I think. But..." I winced, replaying the events that happened earlier in my head.

"But?" Jax urged, nudging my knee with his.

"I think my mom suspects something about us."

Now it was Jax's turn to be shocked. "What? How? We've been so good at keeping it a secret."

"I know! Mom intuition, I guess." I shrugged, looking down.

"So, how'd everything happen? I guessing it didn't go well."

"I mean, it wasn't that bad, but it wasn't the best. Okay, so when I asked mom if she could drive me over, she stopped and asked who was gonna be here."

"Oh shit— "

"Wait, listen. Yeah, so I told her it would be the crew, like I always tell her."

"And she didn't believe you."

"Nope. She saw right through my lie, which is odd since she's never said anything the other times. Anyways, she went on a rant about how we're getting older and how she doesn't feel comfortable about me being alone with you without her knowing what we're doing."

"No way. So you're telling me I just lost MAJOR trust points with your mom!!? What'd you say back?"

"Jax, calm down; my mom loves you, and you know it. And as for the response I gave her... let's just say it wasn't one of my proudest moments."

"You fucked everything up?"

"No! Maybe? I told her that the only reason she was acting like this was because she was still pissed that the reason she found out Anna was dating Hansel was because she caught them making out on Visiting Day." I say, frustration slowly seeping through me.

Jax notices the change in my demeanor and reaches over to rub circles on my knee. "Okay. Umm...fuck. Well, I'll just say that what you did was kind of uncalled for, but I get it. You were mad; it happens." Jax tries to be reassuring. "And look on the bright side; it could've gone SO much worse."

"Sure." I deadpan.

"I serious. They still let you come here; that's a plus."

I roll my eyes. "That's only because my dad convinced my mom."

"For real?" Jax looked taken back. Who could blame him? It was usually my dad the one who played bad cop and mom good cop, not the other way around.

"Mhm. Anyway, this is getting a bit too depressing. Let's do something fun." I said, getting up from the bed.

However, before I could move anywhere away from the bed, Jax grabbed me by the waist and pulled me forward.

I laughed as he stood up, towering over me.

"I know something fun we could do." Jax said, smirking.

I rolled my eyes and smiled, already knowing what he was thinking about. To be fair, I was kind of thinking about it too.

Just like we've done multiple times before, Jax leaned his face down and I stood on my tippy toes, and our lips met in the middle.

Even though our first kiss was a long time ago, I swear I felt sparks fly each time we kissed.

I tied my fingers in Jax's hair, and he wrapped his hands around my waist, pulling me closer. Our mouth moved in sync, as if they were made to be together.

"Some people are just means to meet," Jax had told me one night while we were stargazing. I smile at the memory.

I get snapped back to the present when Jax lifts me up so that I have my legs wrapped around him. He moved us over to his desk and placed me on top of it. He kisses me deeper, and I move my hands from his hair to his jaw.

We must've kissed for a hot minute because we're out of breath once we pull apart.

We smile at each other and Jax gives me a quick kiss before wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close to his chest.

"I love you." He breathes.

"I love you too." I do. I really do.

We stay like that for a while—that is, until the sound of Jax's rumbling stomach interrupts us.

We both freeze for a second before bursting out laughing.

"You wanna eat something?" I ask, still laughing.

"I can eat." He says nonchalantly. I roll my eyes playfully and get down from his desk, pull him out the door by his hand, and we make our way to the kitchen.
