Gilly's POV:

It took Jax and I about five minutes to get to the kitchen. Usually, it would've taken less, but it was late at night, and we didn't want to risk getting caught. After all, despite it being the weekend, the castle wasn't exactly empty.

I pushed the door and went inside, with Jax following suit. I didn't need to reach for a light switch since the moon's glow gave us enough light. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the far wall made the castle's kitchen look almost mystical. No matter how many times I've come in here, the beauty of the space took my breath away. From the white cabinets to the marble countertops, and from the golden accents and the touches of green, the kitchen in Raz's castle couldn't help but make you feel like home.

The first time I entered Jax's kitchen, Jax had looked at me weirdly for being in such awe. But who could blame me? Most girls are suckers for pretty homes. Men usually didn't mind, and that's speaking from experience. Anna, Trixie, and I always helped mom make the kitchen feel like a warm hug. The boys and dad, on the other hand, didn't really mind it as long as they were fed.

Once Jax and I reached the fridge, I hopped up onto one of the island counters while Jax rummaged through the fridge.

"Whatcha want, thief?" Jax asked, pulling out ingredients to make himself a sandwich.

"Oh, I'm good. I ate at home. Thanks though." I replied, shrugging. I hadn't actually eaten at home. I was in to much of a hurry to leave, but that's fine.

Jax turned to stare at me and narrowed his eyes. "Liar."

Once he had gotten all of his ingredients, Jax closed the fridge and opened one of the pantries. He searched for a second before finally pulling out a packet of some sort and tossing it to me. It was Goldfish. I smiled at the fact that he knew my favorite snack.

"Thanks." I mumbled.

"Yeah, yeah, you're welcome. Eat." Jax rolled his eyes playfully before moving next to me to make his sandwich.

We stayed in comfortable silence. Jax did his thing, and I snacked. It was the kind of silence that made you feel at peace—a silence I only had with him. I zoned out for a bit, letting my thoughts run wild. I thought about home, my family, the argument with my mom, Anna's relationship with Hansel (that guy still gives me the creeps), and Jax. He was pretty much the only constant in my life right now. I thought about how he was mine and I was his, and no matter how many girls his dad threw at him, we would never change.

I snapped back in reality when I heard the fridge door open again. Jax was putting away the ingredients. I looked beside me, and on the counter were two sandwiches—two huge sandwiches—and one had a bite taken out of it.

"You made two?" I asked, teasing.

Jax put on an offended look. "Um, yeah! I'm a growing boy!"

I laughed and threw a goldfish at him, which he somehow managed to catch with his mouth. Obviously. He wasn't wrong though. He was surprisingly still growing. As if the 6'1ft he reached last year wasn't enough. No, this past year he managed to grow another two inches, which made me look tiny next to him considering I'm only 5'4. I didn't mind it too much, though.

"So, what's going on at home?" Jax asked out of the blue, causing my mind to completely blank.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"The reason you're here." Jax explained, "You said, and I quote, "My family's being way too much"."

"Ooooohh, right." I scrunched my brows. "I forgot about that."

"Ok, so what happened?" Jax asked again. I swear when he's not out in public, this boy has zero patience.

"Hold on, I'll tell you, but let's go back to your room first." I didn't want to risk the change of a servant coming in here suddenly. Not that we were doing anything, but, you know, people talk and rumors spread fast.

"Ugh, fine." Jax threw his head back and sighed in exasperation, but I knew he was only playing, given the grin on his face.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again, we were walking through the castle's hallways, and five minutes later we were back in Jax's room.

I was lying on his bed on my stomach, with my elbows propped up. I was facing Jax, who was on his desk chair, feet propped up on the foot of the bed, eating his sandwiches.

"Go on, I'm waiting." Jax urged, taking a huge bite of his food. "I'm in serious need of entertainment."

I gasped in feign shock. "Is me being here not enough for you or what?! You know what? I'm not telling you anything now."

Jax rolled his eyes and nudged my shoulder with his toes. "Oh, c'mon, Thief, I'm only teasing. You know I love having you here." He was a lazy smile on his face, and I swear I feel my insides melt.

"Ok, ok fine. I just don't get why you're so insistent; it''s practically nothing." I say, but continue before he can even reply. "It's just that ever since mom found out about Anna and Hansel, there's been so much tension between them."

"A relationship that still confuses the shit out of me, considering that Hansel has tried to kill you and ruin your life multiple times, which makes me want to beat the shit out of his every time I see his face. but okay, continue." Jax comments, which I completely agree with.

"Anyways," I continue, "the tension's kind of thrown the whole family of balance. Anna's fucking pissed all the time and sneaking around with her asshole of a boyfriend; mom's frustrated at anything that happens; Trixie's going through a pre-teen phase; the twins are growing and their energy has doubled; dad works most of the time during the week; and Felix is the only one who's acting normal. Although he stays in his room most of the time, I guess it's the only way to have some quiet during the afternoon."

"And you? Where do you fall in?" Jax asks, his brown furrowed and head tilted.

I let myself fall flat on the bed and breathe in deeply, trying to come up with a good answer. "I don't really know. I guess when I am home on the weekends, I've been trying to be out of the house as much as I can, you know, so my parents don't have to deal with an extra person in the house. I make sure to leave when Hansel is around, which honestly almost never happens because my dad hates him. I help out when I can; take the boys to their soccer practices when mom can't. I also help dad out at the shop. But it's all just so..." I trail off and bury my head on a pillow.

"So what? Too much?" Jax questions softly.

"Too exhausting; I think I'm exhausted. And I can't wait til school's over." I look up to see Jax, but he isn't in his chair. Instead, I feel him lay on the bad behind me. I turn my head and look into his eyes—all gorgeous violet. I move to sit in front of his, and once I'm close enough, Jax reaches up and tucks a piece of hair over my ear and runs his finger lightly over my jaw. I smile at the comforting feeling.

"I'm sorry you feel that way. And you know you that anytime you need to go away for a bit, I'm always here, okay?" Jax leans in and places a soft kiss on my forehead.

"Yeah, I know." I say quietly. I kiss him too, but this time on the lips. Jax leans forward and puts his arms around my waist, pulling me so that I'm on his lap.

He kisses me again, and the kiss is soft and sweet—exactly the type I need. He cups my face with his hands, and I tug at the hair on the nape of his neck. When we break apart, I let myself melt onto Jax's chest, and he holds me close.

"I love you, Thief." Jax whispers as he gently runs his fingers through my hair.

"I love you, too." so much.

"And tell your dad that if he ever feels like beating up Hansel, I have a spare baseball bat he can borrow."

That makes me laugh.

And that's part 3 done!

I'm so sorry it took this long, school's been a lot lately.

I want to work on the next one as soon as possible, so write down ideas!!

Love you guys always,

Cami <3
