(Buckle in, kids; this one is gonna be rough.)

Gilly's POV:

It was Friday night, and all the kids at Fairy Tale Reform School were peacefully enjoying the new weekend.

Well, except for two particular people in the room down the hall. Gilly and Jax were in Jax's room, and they were arguing. They rarely fought, even with Gilly was stubborn as shit, and Jax could get very angry very fast (one of the few aspects he had unfortunately inherited from his dad). Therefore, on the rare occasions that they did, the fights were very messy. This was one of those occasions. Ollie was right outside the dorm, just in case things went too far. Jax and Gilly's fights were almost always about the same thing: someone doing something stupid without thinking it through. Surprisingly, this time, it was Jax.

"You can't go on the rest of your life punching people just because they say something that upsets you!" Gilly yelled. They'd been at this for the better part of an hour because she was sick of hearing about Jax's new victims from kids gossiping down the halls.

Jax glared at her. He was sitting on his bed, fuming, and he didn't feel like he could get any words out without punching something. He still had anger piled up inside him—anger he needed to let loose.

Gilly hated seeing Jax like this; it wasn't like him. But she also knew why he was like this, and the fact that he had to go to a meeting with his dad the day before made it much worse. Jax's mood was always awful after spending time with his dad.

When he finally replied, Gilly could hear the rage in Jax's voice. "Yes, I fucking can."

"Are you serious, Jax? Are you actually serious?" She couldn't believe him. Gilly wanted to laugh.

"Yes, I fucking am. Why the hell do you even care? Don't you have better things to do than fight with me?"

She couldn't handle this fight anymore. I bet Raz doesn't even know that her own brother's fucking anger issues came from daddy issues.

"Ok. You know what, I'm done. Stay angry. Go home to your dad tomorrow with this mood, and you and I both know how that situation ends. Go and see if I care."

Once the words left her mouth, Gilly knew she had messed up. She had messed up big time.

Jax froze and looked up. His expression had changed. Oh, he was angry all right, furious even, but his eyes had an extra gleam of hurt, and his eyebrows were drawn together. Gilly couldn't make out what he was feeling, but she just knew he was about to snap. It scared her.

After a few moments, he said, barely audible, so quiet it was almost a whisper,

"Get out."

"What?"

"I said, GET THE FUCK OUT!"

Something changed in Jax's composure, and in a second, he was up and had grabbed something from his desk. Gilly didn't have time to register the pencil holder flying through the air until it smashed into the wall, inches away from her face.

She flinched and stepped away from the wall.

The anger that she had seen in his eyes just a few seconds ago was gone, replaced by an unreadable, cold stare.

Her heart was pounding in her chest. She couldn't even say a word. She felt as if all her emotions were going haywire, and her thoughts were jumbled.

Suddenly, the door burst open and Ollie ran in. He looked at the scene in front of him and his eyes widened like saucers.

"Jax...what happened?" Ollie was terrified and confused. He had heard a noise and then heard nothing.

"Ollie, get out." Jax growled, staring blankly at Gilly.

"Dude..."

"Get out! Now!"

Ollie didn't want to make things worse, so he did as asked.

Jax watched him walk out and close the door behind him, and when he turned back to Gilly, there were tears in her eyes.

At that moment, Jax registered what had happened and his eyes widened.

"Fuck...shit." He muttered to himself and then looked at Gilly. Tears were threatening to fall, her chin was trembling, and she was shaking slightly. She knew he didn't mean it, and she knew he would never hurt her, but she couldn't help but be terrified.

Jax wanted to kill himself. He had done the thing he swore he'd never do. He hurt the person he cared about the most.

"Gilly...I'm sorry. I'm so so so sorry. I didn't mean it. I swear." Jax tried to step closer to Gilly, but she stepped back like a scared child.

Once Jax realized he had scared Gilly, he felt a lump form in his throat. He wanted to cry.

"Thief, please...I swear, I didn't mean it." The words sounded desperate coming out of his mouth. He sat back in his bed, looking down and breathing heavily.

Gilly snapped back into reality. She knew he didn't mean it; she believed him. Yes, she was still scared, but not truly at Jax. Instead, she feared the person who made him like this. His dad. How could one person break a perfectly good soul so fast?

Jax wasn't like his dad, though. Not one bit. Seeing him break down and apologize clearly showed it. Gilly knew how to fix this. Jax had always been the one who grounds her, no matter how much she's yelled at him, and this time it was her turn to do the same for him.

Gilly waited a few minutes and then walked forward, took Jax's face in her hands and looked into his tear-filled eyes. "Jax, look at me. It was an accident and no one got hurt. I'm okay, but im going to need you calm the hell out, alright." Gilly's voice was still a bit shaky, but she tried not to show it.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." His voice cracked and Gilly knew he was about to break down.

Gilly pulled him close to her and Jax immediately wrapped his arms around her and cried into her sweater. In the last four year, Gilly only needed one hand to count the number of times she'd seen Jax cry. Seeing him cry made her heart ache.

Gilly ran her hands through Jax's hair as his anger flooded out of him. Neither of them knew how long they stayed like that. Gilly didn't care, though. She'd stay as long as Jax needed her. For now, they just stayed in comfortable silence.
