"Lily, are you nervous?" Sarah, Lily's best friend, asked as she put the finishing touches on her bridal gown.

Lily managed a smile, though hands were trembling, "Just a bit," she replied softly. "But, I'll manage."

Across town, Alexander stood before the mirror, adjusting his tie with shaky hands. Doubt crept in his minds, making him question the path that he was about to embark on.

"That's it," he muttered to himself, his face a mask of determination. "No turning back now."

As Lily walked down the aisle on her father's arm, a mixture of emotions flooded her mind. Her heart raced with anticipation, yet a sense of unease lingered beneath the surface. With her father's supportive presence, she felt courage amidst the uncertainty.

At the altar, Alexander stood stoic and rigid, his demeanor distant and cold. His eyes bore into distance, devoid of any warmth or emotion, as if he was merely going through the motions.

Lily's heart sank at the sight of him, a pang of disappointment settling in her chest. She had hoped for a moment of connection, of shared excitement, but Alexander's indifference cast a shadow over the occasion.

When it came time to exchange vows, Lily spoke first, her voice trembling slightly. "I promise to stand by your side, to support you through thick and thin, for better or for worse," she said, her eyes locked on Alexander's.

Alexander's response was cold and robotic. "I promise to fulfill my duties as your husband," he said, his tone devoid of warmth.

As they exchanged vows, Alexander's words rang hollow, lacking the sincerity and passion one would expect on such an occasion. His voice was cold and detached, sending a chill down Lily's spine.

"Are you alright?" Lily whispered, her voice barely audible over the hushed tones of the ceremony.

Alexander's response was dismissive. "I'm fine," he replied, his eyes never meeting hers.

A lump formed in Lily's throat as she realized the depth of Alexander's detachment. Despite her efforts to bridge the gap between them, he remained closed off and unreachable, leaving her feeling more alone than ever.
