Blossom woke up to the smell of herbs overpowering her nose. She blinked her eyes a few times, trying to make sense of where she was. Slowly, she sat up, a tiny bit dizzy. She turned her head, trying to get a full scope of the room she was in. She saw a storage like place for herbs and other healing items, and a few nests with moss in them. She also saw that she was being watched.

She turned her head around to see a gray tom with bright blue eyes and no pupils. A distant dream she had while she was unconscious came to the front of her mind. This cat was in her dream. That's not possible, right?  The tom perked up.

"I see you're awake," He mumbled. She saw that he was a bit embarrassed for her noticing he was staring. She wanted to ask questions when a brown she-cat with amber eyes scurried towards her, an unfamiliar plant in her mouth.

"Are you alright? Do you feel dizzy? Jaypaw, don't just stand there, go get me some more thyme. We may need watermint in case she has to throw up water," She ushered the tom towards the collection of herbs and started to feel around her.

"What's your name?" The tabby she-cat asked. Blossom didn't really know if she wanted to tell this stranger, but she seemed to care about her, and it wouldn't hurt.

"Um, Blossom," She mumbled. The other she-cat twitched her ears, trying to hear what she said.

"Could you say that a bit louder? I didn't catch you," She said soothingly, her tail stroking Blossom's flank. Oddly, she now trusted this cat. "Blossom," She said a bit louder, and unintentionally curled up her tail. The she-cat gave her a small smile.

"Well Blossom, my apprentice, Jaypaw, found you in a raging river and tried to save you," The brown she-cat gestured towards the gray tom from before. Blossom blushed, then quickly turned away. No one had ever even hunted a piece of prey for her, let alone jump in a whole river. The brown she-cat then flicked her tail.

"My name is Leafpool, I'm the medicine cat here. You look half starved, so let me get you a piece of prey and be right back," Leafpool said, then padded out of the den. Silence filled the room between her and Jaypaw. She couldn't help but feel a bit ashamed that she hadn't said thank you.

"Jaypaw," She started, getting him to stop sorting herbs and turn his head towards her direction.

"Thank you," She said, giving him a small smile. For some reason, he scowled at her. Have I done something wrong?

"Don't give me pity just because I'm blind," He growled at her. Her eyes widened. This cat was blind? It didn't seem like that at all, the way he neatly shuffled the herbs as if he could see them. But even after saying that, she didn't see him any differently.

"I- I didn't know you were blind. It must be hard-" She started, but he cut in front of her.

"I hear that every day. Don't pity me," He said grumpily. She twitched her ears, a bit unhappy that a cat her age was this upset. Almost like me when Frost- She stopped that thought. Then she looked at him dead in the eye.

"You didn't let me finish. It must be hard to have no one understand you or take you seriously. Just because you're different. Not in a pitying way, but in a way no one will believe you," She finished. His eyes somehow widened, and for a moment he just froze. She suddenly realized how meanly she said that.

"I'm so sorry!" She squeaked, earning a confused and a bit amused look from the gray tom.

"I didn't mean to sound mean!" She apologized, making Jaypaw chuckle. He glanced at her with is blind eyes. He was about to say something when Leafpool padded in, a mouse in her mouth. She dropped it by Blossom's paws and nudged it towards her. Blossom ate a few bites, before letting her mind drift towards her conversation with Jaypaw.

He doesn't seem so bad. And I'm assuming there are other cats here, because Leafpool called herself a medicine cat, so there must be hunter cats. Or something. Suddenly exhaustion weighed her down.

"That must be the poppy seed kicking in," Leafpool stated, nudging Blossom towards her nest.

"Stay in bed until the effects wear off. You should be good to go once it's done," Leafpool noted, padding off to who knows where. Her last thoughts were Jaypaw's voice softly whispering under his breath.

"Sweet dreams,"
