Blossompaw's eyes widened as she saw red. Blood was splattered all over the floor, over her claws, and over a gray body. She gasped. Hurrying over towards the body, she rolled it over and saw Jaypaw, except bigger, and older. HIs mouth feebly opened as he tried to choke out word.
"How- could- y-" He gasped, taking a last breath. Blossompaw started breathing faster. NO no no no no no!!! I didn't think- I didn't know- She felt her breaths becoming more shallow. Cuts started to appear along her body. All the ones she had ever had. The pain was slicing through when each cut appeared, as if a reminder that she couldn't escape anything.
"No," She whispered as she saw a white tuxedo cat, and two brown tabby. One with amber eyes like Brambleclaw, and the other with shining blue eyes. She gasped. The tuxedo she-cat sauntered up to her, evil in her eyes.
"Welcome back. Daughter," She said the last part with a malicious tone. Then everything went black.
Blossompaw woke up, nearly screaming in horror. She turned her head and saw the other apprentices cowering in the corner. Oh no, did I say something in my sleep? She felt herself shudder from all the cuts. All of the cuts she had healed. The last time she had been to The Place of No- She didn't want to think of it. A smokey tabby she-cat slowly walked up to her.
"A-are you alright? You were screaming in your sleep," She seemed to be trembling. Blossompaw blinked. Had I? Did I always do that when I dreamed of that place? She turned towards the other apprentices. Even Hollypaw looked afraid. I shouldn't bring them into this, She blinked a few times, trying to find the right words to say, when Cloudtail poked his head in.
"What are you all, stunned voles? Come on, the border can't patrol itself," He scorned. The apprentices loosened up a bit. Hollypaw scampered up, trying to regain her posture.
"R-right. Cmon' guys," She said, motioning them with a flick of her tail. The apprentices slowly followed, as if worried Blossompaw was going to jump them from the behind. She rolled her eyes. Cloudtail looked straight at her.
"What's so funny, o wise hunter? Come on, the elders den can't clean itself," His blue eyes pierced her. The apprentices snickered. She blinked. As long as I'm helpful, I don't really care, Her thoughts mumbled. She gave a respectful nod and headed towards the medicine cat den for mouse bile. She heard Berrypaw scoff.
"There's no way she's not going to complain," He argued. She turned her head towards him.
"Don't count on it," She grinned.
As disgusting as mouse bile was, clearing for ticks was somewhat fun. First was Longtail.
"So, you're the new apprentice? I don't really understand why Firestar let another rouge join us," He muttered. Blossompaw couldn't tell if he was trying to get her upset on purpose or not. She rubbed some of the mouse bile on one of his ticks.
"Well if ThunderClan didn't let other cats join, Firestar wouldn't even be here," She pointed out. Longtail sniffed in indignation, and Mousefur purred.
"Oh, you're thinking of that," She purred in amusement as Longtail flicked his, well, long tail.
"Don't," His scratched ear twitched. Blossompaw looked from Mousefur to him. Her eyes widened.
"Thinking of what?" She asked, keen to hear something that Longtail didn't want to be said. Mousefur gave a small snicker.
"Settle down. When Firestar was Firepaw, he had just entered the clan. Longtail here challenged him to a battle," Mousefur's gaze went to his scratched ear. She flicked her tail.
