Ariel sat at the small café table, her mind swirling with thoughts and emotions as she sipped her coffee. It had been two days since.... since that day, and in that time, she had been navigating through a sea of heartache, confusion, and anger.

The memory of finding Theo in bed with another woman still haunted her, the image burned into her mind like a scar she couldn't erase. She had spent the past two days alternating between crying herself to sleep and steeling herself against the pain, trying desperately to make sense of what had happened.

Valentina had been her rock throughout it all, offering a steady shoulder to lean on and a listening ear to hear her out. Together, they had talked and cried and talked some more. But mostly, she'd been trying to push those thoughts and feelings away.

But amidst the turmoil, Theo had continued to reach out, sending text messages and voicemails in an attempt to apologize and explain himself. For some reason he had suddenly stopped blowing up her phone with constant calls and text but his messages resumed after half a day went by. They were different and less often, but still a constant reminder. Each message tugged at Ariel's heartstrings, reminding her of the love they had shared and the life they had planned together. She would look at the notification and preview then stop, never opening it.

Despite the longing she felt in her heart, Ariel couldn't bring herself to respond. The wounds were still too fresh, the pain too raw, and the trust that had once bound them together had been shattered beyond repair.

As she sat in the café with Valentina by her side, Ariel couldn't help but feel a sense of emptiness gnawing at her insides. She missed Theo, missed the comfort and familiarity of his presence, but she knew that she couldn't think of that right now, not after what had happened.

Staying busy planning the last-minute trip had helped her over the past two days. It had provided a distraction, a way to keep her mind occupied and her thoughts at bay. She wasn't ready to confront the depths of her pain just yet, wasn't ready to face the reality of what had happened between her and Theo.

And so, with a heavy heart and a mind filled with uncertainty, Ariel tried to focus on the present moment, on the warmth of her friend's company and the promise of a future that lay ahead, uncertain though it may be.

Despite the turmoil swirling within her, Ariel knew that she couldn't stay trapped in the cycle of pain and confusion forever. She had to find a way to move forward, to carve out a path for herself in a world that suddenly seemed so unfamiliar.

As she sat in the café, surrounded by the gentle hum of conversation and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, Ariel took a deep breath and forced herself to push aside the lingering doubts and fears that threatened to consume her.

She took a moment to compose herself before diving into conversation with Valentina about their upcoming trip. "So, our flight is at 1:30pm, right?" she asked, her voice tinged with excitement despite the heaviness in her heart.

Valentina nodded eagerly. "Yup, that's right! We've got plenty of time to grab some lunch too before we go. Have you thought about what we're going to do once we get to the resort?"

Ariel smiled, feeling a glimmer of anticipation at the thought of their getaway. "Well, I was thinking we could start off with something relaxing, like lounging by the pool with a cocktail in hand," she suggested. "But you know me, the beach has always been my happy place. I think I could really use some time by the ocean to clear my head and reset."

"That sounds perfect! There's nothing quite like the sound of the waves and the feel of the sand between your toes to melt away your worries," Valentina agreed with a grin. "And who knows? Maybe I'll find more than just seashells to bring back as souvenirs. Wink, wink!"
