A/N: I did it! I placed (was the only one in my group to do so) so here is another chapter <3

Eight months after Y/N woke up from her encased slumber.

"Y/N! I'm back, I brought another jug of spring water for Ruri." Kohaku said as she crossed the bridge that connected the priestesses home to the rest of the village, carrying a big jug of hot water on her back. Y/N was sitting next to Ruri, with a cold cloth, dabbing her forehead with it after she had a bad coughing fit. Y/N's attention went from Ruri to Kohaku as the blonde girl made her way to the foot of the stairs that led up and into the hut.

"Turquoise, could you please come continue changing out her compress? Once it warms up, you need to rinse it with cold water and put it back on to her forehead." Y/N said as she squeezed the rag made out of older cloth, ringing out the extra water, cooling it down significantly more than what the previous temperature was. Turquoise climbed the stairs and took her place beside Y/N, taking the cloth from her hands and taking over Y/N's job. Y/N pushed off the floor and began to walk to the door step while Kohaku prepared a bath. "I'm going to run to Chrome's hut to steal some herbs from him for her bath. i'll be back in thirty minutes, use some coals to keep the water warm." Y/N said as she grabbed a makeshift bag and slung it over her shoulder. She walked down the steep stairs, waving to Jasper with a smile as she crossed the bridge to head into the main village. Y/N rarely left the priestesses island, only leaving to go update Chrome on how Ruri was doing, or to borrow some herbs from his pretty extensive collection.

The first time Y/N had been introduced to Chrome and his hut in the woods, she was very surprised to see the amount of medicinal herbs that he had stockpiled over the years. She knew that once Senku woke up, and managed to find this village, he and Chrome would be friends in a matter of minutes. Maybe after Chrome felt the need to show off in some sort of way based on his personality. Y/N realized that Chrome had some sort of feelings towards Ruri once he explained that he was collecting these plants in order to help her. Testing them on himself and keeping the ones that helped. Y/N was pretty surprised since some plants could be extremely dangerous if not handled properly. Ones could be helpful if they were applied as a topical, but could be dangerous if ingested. So it's safe to say, Y/N was surprised to see that Chrome had survived as long as he had. That's besides the point though, he had been doing his best.

She arrived at the shed and climbed up inside of the small building, opening the doors to reveal the plethora of plants and ores inside of the small building. She knew that Senku would have a field day the moment he got his hands on these materials. She left the door open in order to let light inside as she dug around to find different herbs. She grabbed some dried chamomile, dried lavender, dried eucalyptus, and a few others that could help Ruri and her symptoms. She piled a good handful or two of each of the herbs and stuffed them into the bag she had slung on her shoulder. Which is when she came across a stem of black nightshade. It was one of her favorite flowers but since it was apart of the nightshade family, it was poisonous. The beautiful white petals had a deadly secret behind them if you used them wrong or mishandled it. Y/N was a little confused on why Chrome had it but she set it on a different shelf, away from the medicinal herbs.

As soon as Y/N had everything she needed, checking it and double checking it again, she climbed down the ladder, shutting the doors behind her. Leaving small shed in darkness. She landed on the ground, and stretched her arms into the air, breathing in the clean, crisp air. Y/N began the short trek back to the village, trying her best not to trip on rocks and roots while on her way. She quickly made it back, saying hello to Kinro and Ginro who were stationed at the entrance. Ginro, dozing off as he usually did almost every day, and Kinro as stiff as a stick, clutching his spear at the ready. They both greeted Y/N as she walked through the two of them and onto the bridge. She strolled through the main village, waving and smiling to those who called her name. Old man Kaseki, was hard at work, crafting different things that the village needed. She crossed the second bridge making her way to the priestesses island. Y/N climbed up the stairs and to the small area in the hut where Kohaku set up a small bath for her sister. She tossed two thirds of the herbs into the bath before boiling a separate pot of water and steeping the rest of the herbs to make a medicinal tea. After the tea was done steeping, Y/N poured a cup of the tea for Ruri. She set it next to the bath before going over to the Priestess's bed. "Ruri, your bath is ready. I have some tea for you as well." Y/N said in a soft voice. Ruri stirred awake, fluttering her eyes open so she could adjust to the light that the sun provided. Ruri slowly sat up, holding onto Y/N's arm for support.
"Thank you Y/N." Ruri said as she slowly stood and was walked over to the bath. Ruri undressed and slowly slid into the bath, letting the warm water encase her up to her shoulders. Y/N handed her a cup of warm tea and let her sip on it. After the water began to grow cold, Y/N helped Ruri out of the bath while Turquoise helped her dress. Y/N sat her down before pressing her ear to Ruri's back, listening to her heart and lungs. Her heart sounded better than it had the previous day but her lungs had not grown any clearer. In fact, over the few months Y/N had been there, Ruri had continued to slowly decline in health. Time was not on her side and she was quickly running out of it. She could only hope that her best friend would be able to wake up before it was too late.

Y/N got Ruri comfortable in her bed before returning to her own quarters and climbing into the straw bed that had been arranged for her. Y/N sighed, 'please hurry and wake up' She thought to herself as she slowly drifted off to sleep.
