"A generator" The words came out of Senku's mouth like a thunder storm. The villagers looked dumbfounded, since they had zero idea as to what a generator was, how it worked or even as to why they needed it in the first place. Though on the modern side, Gen had his jaw hanging, practically hitting the ground. "A generator? Are you for real?! That's not happening!" Gen said, words shaking out of him as the shock and disbelief coursed through him. It seemed the world was either angry, or shocked too as a thunderstorm brewed above them. The lightning striking, like a gods hammer slamming onto the earth.
The village on the other hand was in a panic, everyone except for Y/N that is. Who had a general understanding of how lightning was produced and why it struck so randomly. The white-haired guard was rushing everyone to get inside their homes. "Women and children! Get inside your homes quick!" Jasper shouted as he helped an elderly woman get into her home safe and sound. Y/N had her own work to tend to though, she knew that with this lightning storm Senku would be trying something. She didn't know exactly what but she knew there was something brewing between his ears.
Which her hunch was undoubtedly correct as Senku was shaking in unpreparedness as Kohaku, Chrome, and Suika looked to the skies, commenting on how it was thunderstorm season. "We're way too lucky!" Chrome shouted, pumping a fist into the air. Though Senku couldn't say the same as he cut the brunette off, "No idiot this is the worst case scenario! We are far from prepared!" Senku shouted as his thoughts raced trying to figure out a last minute solution to the problem.
"You aren't making a lightning generator are you?" The mentalist questioned, a sly smile spread across his face. Though Senku bit back quickly, "There's no such thing, we're making magnets". He had his chin resting in between his thumb and pointer finger as he thought of ways to make this unfortunate situation work for to his favor. Suika held up a rock that had a bunch of the iron sand attached to it. "Here's some iron sand!" She said with a cheerful smile but was quickly shot down when Senku mentioned how the natural stuff wasn't nearly as strong as they needed it to be. "We're gonna have to catch the lightning with an iron rod, but we'll have to move lightning fast in order to do so. Quite literally." Senku said as he gazed up at the dark clouds that shadowed over the world.
They worked as fast as they could, melting the copper so they could pour it into a cast. Senku sent Suika to the village to get the lacquer that the Scientist required. Though Suika was either going too fast, or wasn't paying attention because she ran straight into Y/N who was helping a small child that had tripped over in the panic due to the storm. "Suika! Are you ok?" Y/N questioned as she helped the melon head back onto her feet. "Yep! I'm getting stuff for Senku! Something big that i don't quite understand is happening." Y/N smiled at the response.
"Okay, make sure no one gets hurt and i'll come to check up on you guys when i am able to. If someone does get hurt though, come get me ok?" Y/N said with a soft smile as Suika nodded in agreement before speeding off to old man Kasekis workshop to retrieve the requested goods. Once Suika returned, Senku took off a board from the suspension bridge. Then had Kohaukh carve a channel into it which they poured the molten copper into to make a wire before wrapping the copper around the block of metal.
Back in the village~
"The foreigners are breaking the bridge!" A young girl with brown pigtails shouted so the whole village could hear. Which alerted the strongest douche in the world, Magma. Of course Y/N heard the ruckus but decided to watch from a distance for now. Though as Magma and his gang made their way across the bridge to where those 'foreigners' had their base of operations set up, Y/N decided to follow them from a distance. Though she stopped short behind a hut when she saw a familiar looking man appear before Magma with flowers in hand. "You have some balls to come get yourself killed when you brought down the anger of the heavens!" Magma yelled at Gen, who was still holding his flowers. "Ah no! We are here to stop the lightning with our sorcery. Like this!" Gen finished as he made the flowers disappear with a sleight of hand trick that only put the flowers to the back of his hand. Which stunned Magma and his gang but made Y/N and the Kingdom of Science just laugh.
Y/N could barely believe her eyes though. Gen was there before her eyes, safe and sound, looking a little different due to his hair being half white and half black but still, safe and sound.Though as the storm raged on, the Scientists climbed bald mountain. The mountain where Chrome had found his very first magnet by chance. To hopefully make a magnet that was 10 times more powerful that they were hoping. They needed to move fast, much faster than the pace they were going at but making a lightning rod out of a dull branch was hard since it wouldn't stick into the ground no matter how hard they had tried. Which was when Kohaku had the bright idea to steal Kinro's golden spear, tie the rod to it and shove it straight into the ground. Just in the nick of time as well, the lightning struck the iron rod, making it glow like nothing before for a split second. Senku just stood there smiling with pride welling in his chest. They had done it. They had made a magnet.
Or so they thought, "Senku! Some strange force is pushing these magnets apart!" Kohaku said, panic lacing her words. Which made Senku spin around in fear but he quickly realized that the poles weren't going the correct way. When he fixed it, by turning them around, they stuck together like glue.
They got hard to work shaping up two copper discs, lathering the rope in lacquer, while Senku's face puffed up due to lacquer rash. Though when they were finally finished the small kingdom of science looked up at their creation with pride. They had stepped one step closer to getting to their goal of curing Ruri. Though they needed two people who were strong and could coordinate like no one else. Which is why they decided to bribe Kinro and Ginro.
Once the sky went dark, Senku climbed on top of the Science shed, placing a bamboo fiber on top of it. "Chrome, are you afraid of the dark?" Senku asked as he attacked two wire to the ends of the bamboo fiber. "Sometimes yeah, why?" Chrome questioned, finding it a little weird that Senku had asked that out of the blue. "In our world, there was no darkness. Light covered every inch of our planet." Senku finished as he climbed down before pressing a big red button that caused the electricity to flow. The bamboo fiber lit up like a star that had descended form the sky. An edison lightbulb.
Y/N watched from her window in the priestesses hut, mouth agape. They had done something. They had made major progress in this stone world.
Maybe there was hope after all.
