'Ishigami village?' Senku and Y/N thought to themselves as their eyes met. While Y/N had asked about when she was mentioned in the hundred tales she had failed to remember to ask the most obvious question of how the villagers knew the hundred tales, let alone how they were there in the first place with generations of villagers to account for.
Scenarios ran through her head, everything from was there a revival before them, far before them. Or maybe someone has taken shelter underground and survived the petrification. 'That wouldn't make sense' Y/N thought to herself. Everyone was petrified including those who were in the basement levels.
Ruri stood slowly, walking down to Senku with Y/N following close behind her. "That's right Ishigami Senku, I have known you for a long time." Ruri stated as she closed the distance but left enough personal space for the both of them. That's when it hit Y/N. Why did some of the villagers seem to have foreign blood in them? Even though there was some semblance of Senku's heritage in a few others.
The space station. Byakuya, Senku's adoptive father had been in space at the time of the petrification. They must have made it down somehow and started a civilization. Though Y/N began to think that it was too far fetched when Ruri gently pulled her and Senku away towards the forest. Little did they know a man clad in purple followed them a good distance away.
When Ruri, Y/N, and Senku were far enough from the village, but still on a path through the forest. She began to speak of how the hundred tales were made.
Byakuya, along with his fellow astronauts had been stuck on the international space station when the petrification happened. So they went down to earth to find any survivors when they crash landed on an island with only one inhabitant which had unfortunately not survived the petrification. They had set up camp and were thriving. Many of them had paired up and gotten marrying, giving life to the next generation of survivors when one of the astronauts fell ill. They didn't have any medicines so two of them decided to head for the mainland to see if they could get medicine but they ended up not coming back. Byakuya survived long past the others, growing old to watch his sons and daughters grow old with families of their own.
That was when they stopped the trek they had been on, they arrived at the cemetery that the villagers had been using for decades. In the middle was a headstone that had been worn with time but still stood tall. "This, this is the head stone that is believed to be Byakuyas. I will leave you two too it. Come back when you're ready." Ruri said with a sympathetic smile as she started her own trek back to the village. Gen, had been lurking at the edge of the forest watching the Senku and Y/N now alone with the headstone.
Tears welled in Senku's and Y/Ns eyes as Y/N fell to her knees mourning the man she had once treasured as her second father. The man who had supported both her and Senku's strange science experiments. Neither of them could keep their composure as they both began to cry. Senku managed to barely keep himself together, not so much for Y/N on the other hand. She had always been much for emotional than Senku, even when they were in middle school. Though through her tears, she managed to stand on her feet with her knees shaking and embrace Senku. The both of them had been prepared for most things but this was something that had come out of the blue.
Gen felt his chest tighten as he saw her sobbing into Senku's shoulder, whether that be with jealousy or sympathy he wasn't sure.
Though Senku was able to keep himself together for the most part, he eventually managed to calm the both of them down. Y/Ns eyes were red and puffy, her face swollen from crying. Senku on the other hand wasn't nearly as bad but his eyes were red from the tears. Y/N let go of Senku after beginning her process of grieving Byakuya and they began there walk back to the village. Though Gen had started his minutes before they had. Y/N sniffled as she wiped the stray tear that fell every once and awhile when she happened to think about Byakuyas face or any of the memories the three of them had made together. When they made it back to the village, Y/N hid her face behind Senku in order to prevent any worry from the villagers. "Actually Senku I'm going to go to the Science shed. I'll see you all later" Y/N said in a cracked voice as she started walking towards the science shed.
Senku spotted Gen and relayed what had happened, even if Gen didn't need the story he still out on the facade as if he didn't already know what had happened. Gen slipped out of the party that had ensued after the Grand Bout to go check on Y/N. Y/N had been sitting by the ladder to the Shed, gazing up at the stars. When he approached her, he was nervous but knew she needed someone. "N/N?" Gen called out as he grew closer to her just to be sure he wouldn't startle the fragile girl. Y/N turned her attention from the stars to the man before her. Memories of their childhood flashed through her head, before reeling back to the day she left without saying goodbye. "Gen..." Y/N said with a cracked voice as she tried to stand with shaky knees. Gen quickly went beside her, which was when Y/N pulled him into a tight embrace. "I'm so sorry for leaving you, i never meant to i promise." Y/N said as her words betrayed her.
Gen could only return the embrace, holding her close as if she would leave him again. As if she was his life line. His Guardian.
"I know N/N, I know."
