'cough cough' Y/N, in her dazed state being on the line between conciseness and unconsciousness. 'cough! cough!' Y/N's eyes shot open. She couldn't see very well since it was still dark out, she estimated it was around three or four in the morning. Though Y/N couldn't exactly tell since she didn't have a clock like she did all that time ago.

Y/N carefully crawled out of her straw bed as she continued to hear coughing from the priestess's quarters. She could see an outline of the door because of the moonlight shining against the material, so she slowly made her way towards it. Y/N pushed the door open, being able to see a whole lot better under the light that shone down from the moon and stars. She took a breath after finally getting outside before the sounds of violent coughing reached her ears. Y/N made haste as she rushed to the stairs leading up to wear the priestess laid. It seems as if she wasn't the only one who had heard Ruri's coughing fit as both Kohaku, and the Village Chief were quickly approaching Y/N. "Y/N! What's going on?!" Kohaku said as she approached the stairs just as you were reaching the entrance.

"I don't know, I think she's having another coughing fit. Go boil water and then get peppermint and ginger from chrome! I showed him what both of those things look like so he should know when you tell him." Y/N said with a calm voice, trying to keep her thoughts straight  without falling into panic. This wasn't the first coughing fit Ruri has had, but it was definitely the most violent. "No, i'll just run to the spring to get that water." Kohaku said as she tied her hair up.

"Kohaku. I will have you do that when it's light out, not only do we need hot water now, but it's far too dangerous. Who knows what animals are out there because i don't!" Y/N said sternly. Kohaku sighed in defeat and nodded. Kokuyo had already started building a fire and placing a pot of hot water atop of it as Kohaku sprinted out to Chrome's shed. Y/N didn't have the things she needed, like an oxygen mask or any medicine. Let alone a sterile work environment. Regardless, Y/N woke Ruri up to make sure she was conscious before sitting her up and resting her back against the wall.

Over at Chrome's hut.

"Chrome get up!" Kohaku yelled at the top of her lungs, making sure her voice would carry as far as she could make it. A few crashes noises came from inside the shed before a male voice groaned and the door opened. "Kohaku what is it? It's not even day break yet" The boy, Chrome, said as he rubbed his chocolate brown eyes to help wake himself up. "Y/N said she needs peppermint and ginger! Ruris having a fit again, but it's bad" Kohaku said as she climbed up to the opening in his hut. That statement, caused Chrome to wake right up. He immediately knew what she was speaking of due to a lesson on different herbs that Y/N had given him not to long after she was accepted into the village. Kohaku heard rustling for a good two minutes before chrome reappeared with a basket in hand. The basket held a few sprigs of peppermint and a few Ginger roots. Chrome shoved the basket into Kohaku's arms before telling her, "This should be it. Get it to her fast." Kohaku nodded before running back to the village.

Back to the village.

Y/N had been making Ruri slowly drink lukewarm water and had put a warm compress on the Priestesses chest to help loosen up her lungs. Kohaku stormed in, with the basket full of herbs slung over her shoulder. Ruri had stopped coughing but her breathing hadn't quite returned to its normal rate. "Kohaku, please muddle those herbs together then put it in water and let Ruri drink it. It should help with the coughing but i'll sleep here for the rest of tonight just to be safe." Y/N told Kohaku before continuing to care for the ill priestess who was on the verge of falling asleep. Kohaku did as Y/N asked and crushed up the ginger and mint before mixing it in hot water. She delivered a cup of the mixture to Y/N before sitting down next to her sisters side. Y/N helped Ruri sit up and slowly spoon fed the mixture to the priestess. Not long after the mixture was all gone, Ruri drifted off to sleep with her breathing being returned to normal. Y/N sighed, relief swelling in her chest. "Thank you Y/N. I don't think she would have made it this long if you hadn't shown up." Kohaku, said as she gazed down at her sleeping sister. Y/N leaned against the wall, resting her head in her hand. "Sure, it's not a problem." Y/N said as he eyes grew heavy. Kohaku stood up and began to walk towards the door to leave. "Goodnight Y/N" "Goodnight Kohaku. Please get some spring water this afternoon." Y/N said as she made herself a pallet on the floor and drifted to sleep.

Later in the day, as Y/N was sitting with Ruri and Kokuyo, waiting for Kohaku to return to the Village with the water from the hot spring. Which is when they heard a large explosion sound coming from the mountains. It sent Y/N into a defensive state as she shot up and searched the horizon for where that sound could have come from. Which is when she saw pitch black smoke rising from the mountain. She had first thought that there was a volcano getting ready to erupt but then realized that the smoke was only coming from one place and it was too small of a plume to be a big eruption. Y/N went to see Ginro and Kinro and told the pair "I don't know what that was but be on guard there might be some weird activity going on." The two nodded and Kinro seemed more alert while Ginro remained all the same. Y/N sighed before returning to the Priestesses island. Which not long after she heard a large snap, followed by a crash. Which didn't strike Y/N as hard as the explosion did since dead trees often toppled over. What worried everyone though, is when Kohaku didn't return that night.
