The Grand Bout was some what of a holy event in the village. It happened once a generation when the village Priestess comes of age to determine her husband, and the newest village chief. It was a tournament that anyone could fight through to earn the honor and title of being the Village Chief. Which is what most men would dream of. Marrying a beautiful woman such as Ruri and becoming the village chief of the supposed only village in the world. Though they were never really sure if they were the only ones in the world, due to that weird creeping feeling that most people get when they just have a hunch.
The Kingdom of Science knew what they had to do in order to have Senku gain access to the village and the people who resided inside. Plus the fact that the new village chief would be gifted enough liquor to make an alcoholic happy for the rest of their days.
So they trained. Kohaku, Kinro, and Ginro worked tirelessly training together in order to get stronger to be able to hold their own against the enemy that was magma. They all knew how much of a brute Magma was and that he would do anything and everything in order to win. Even Ruri had confided in Y/N not too many moons ago about the worries she was facing when it came to the next grand bout and how there was a good chance that Magma would win. Since during the previous one, if the Priestesses sister, Kohaku, didn't step in, Ruri would have had the 'privilege' and misery of marrying Magma. While the rest of the village would have had the honor to serve him as he served as the village chief.
While the Muscle Team got to work training their minds and honing their skills, the Science team were also hard at work. Senku and Chrome were focused on making Ruri a treatment that would help her illness. Though since Senku couldn't see Ruri herself in order to diagnose her, he would have to trust Y/N to make those calls. Senku trusted the girl more than enough to make the decision on whether or not she needed this medicine or that medicine because of the fact that she had trained with medical professionals at a hospital back in the modern era. Though like some people, Senku could never be one hundred percent sure that whatever was wrong with her was what was truly wrong until he saw it with his own two eyes. Which was unfortunate but also understandable at the same time.
Y/N had to leave to go take care of the village priestess so she left her trust in the rest of them— more specifically Suika and Senku— to take care of Gen in her absence. His condition only improved in the slightest, but mostly remained the exact same as the night before when he had been originally attacked in the woods by the generator. "I plan on participating in the Grand Bout" Kohaku said as she sat up with her knees to her chest and her arms wrapped around her legs. "The team of the Kingdom of science, Kinro, Ginro, and me, we will do whatever it takes to prevent Magma from winning." She finished her sentence as Chrome nodded in head with a grunt in agreement.
Chrome thought he was keeping it on the down low, but in reality he truly sucked at being able to keep a secret. Everyone in the village knew that the brown haired man had the biggest crush on Ruri. He had had one since they were children and even Y/N could tell from the first interaction they'd had together that the feelings seemed to be mutual. Though neither Chrome nor Ruri realized that the other returned their emotions. Though ever since Ruri had fallen ill, Chrome worked hard, desperately trying to find a cure for the strange disease that afflicted the blonde Priestess. He often went into the forest, even now, to gather herbs to find out if they had any medicinal properties to them. He always tested them on himself. He kept the ones that worked, or had positive results and symptoms. While trying the bad ones and crossing them out of his mind when they had negative results and symptoms.
Everything got so much easier when Y/N had broken out of the stone on that faithful day because she knew what the herbs were and if they were good or not. She never had to try any of them, just took one look, or smell if they looked too similar to a different plant and just knew. She said that she knew because of something called a brain storing all of her knowledge as a way to dumb it down for Chrome since he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
Though while in the present time, Gen was continuing to breathe heavily with an expression on his face that just screamed the fact that he was in pain due to the torment that Magma had put him through. His face was still in extremely bad shape. Cuts and bruises littered his fair skin. His eyes dull while he slipped in and out of consciousness. It was a hard sight to set your eyes upon. It was certainly not how Y/N wanted to find him after all of these years, but it is what it is in this stone world.
Gen had began to mutter something late in the evening while Chrome slept, but Senku was still wide awake working away so he leaned down and listened.
Though the next morning as Y/N was walking up to the Science shed along with Kinro and Ginro, all the trio could hear were the panicked ramblings of Chrome. "Oh no... Gen vanished!" Chrome shouted as he gazed upon an empty bed where Gen used to lie, where he should be but obviously had gone off somewhere. Y/N raced up the ladder in a panic only for her eyes to confirm what Chrome was saying.
'Gen?'
