Today was basically D-Day.

It was what Kazuo had been working for. For years.

Naomi's court hearing.

--------------------------

"Did you get all the files?" Kou fixed his suit jacket in the bathroom mirror, and looked at the raven head through the reflection.

"Yeah, they're all here," Kazuo replied, his voice tight with tension as tightened his tie. Each document represented a piece of the puzzle, a crucial element in building their case against Naomi.

Kou nodded in satisfaction, his expression serious as he turned away from the mirror to face Kazuo directly. "Good. We need to make sure we have everything in order for today's hearing," he said, his tone firm and decisive.

Kazuo nodded in agreement, his jaw set in determination. "I've gone over everything multiple times. We're ready," he assured Kou, his voice steady despite the underlying nerves.

"Good," Kou replied. "Don't get nervous in court. We need to stay focused and present a strong case. The outcome of this trial could have far-reaching consequences."

Kazuo nodded once more, a sense of resolve settling over him. "I understand," he said, his voice tinged with determination.

They walked out of the restroom and headed towards the courtroom. The prosecutor on the case met them half way.

"Officer Kade," she greeted formally and bowed, receiving a bow from them as well. "May I please have the case files? And witness testimonies as well."

"Yes, of course," he replied before handing her the huge file.

    "Thank you," she smiled.

     "You're welcome."

-----------------------------

As the trial of Naomi commenced, Kazuo sat among the spectators, his dad next to him. His gaze fixed on the proceedings with a mixture of determination and apprehension. The courtroom was hushed as the prosecutor, a formidable woman with a commanding presence, rose to address the jury.

He had noticed Zen, Omi, Rehan, and Fay sitting on the gallery and felt thankful that they came to support him.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury," the prosecutor began, her voice ringing out with authority. "Today, you will hear the evidence that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the defendant, Naomi Reb, is guilty of the murder of Yuna Lee."

As the prosecutor outlined the case against Naomi, detailing the evidence and witness testimonies that implicated her in the crime, Naomi's defense attorney, a man with a steely demeanor, rose to his feet to object.

"Objection, Your Honor," he interjected, her voice laced with disdain. "The prosecution's evidence is circumstantial at best and fails to establish a clear motive for my client's alleged actions."

The judge, a stern-faced figure presiding over the trial, listened carefully to the defense attorney's objection before overruling it, allowing the prosecutor to continue.

"Ladies and gentlemen, Reb's motive may not have been spelled out in black and white, but her actions speak volumes," she declared, her gaze sweeping across the room. "Her obsession with Kazuo Kade, fueled by jealousy and paranoia, drove her to commit this heinous act."
